I'd rather hear Victor Calderone drop some serious promos that will get me chasing after them for the next 8 months, rather than see him interact with the crowd.

Armin jumps around and makes a fool of himself.....Tiesto use to do the same thing but he has calmed that down a bit.....the standing on the table wearing a Leafs Jersey in the Jesus pose is just retarded. Its important to be able to interact with the crowd but for me the best way to interact with the crowd is to show you are into what you are spinning. You don't have to do some of the stupid antics that some DJs do.

Track selection is most important though. If the track selection is good I won't even look at the DJ all night long because I will be too busy dancing.

crowd interaction usually (well to me) means good songs that gets the crowd hyped.

A good dj should make you groove even if he is mixing from a back room or from behind curtins. Who cares if he is jumping up and down or if he is realy into his mixing. For me personally a smile and a friendly gesture from the dj is more then enough crowd interaction, something like eye contact or a nod that says, Ye i know how you feel, is more then enough.

I guess it also depands on the music that we are talking about, a dj spining Electro House and other high energy music should be moving and grooving to the fast banging beats. On the other hand a prog dj who is focusing on taking you on a musical journey doesnt have to go crazy cuz the music is not totaly about that anyway.

It's all about the tunes....Good crowd interaction is a bonus...But the quality of tunes comes first

i rather have a good tune selection and good flow to the music, i dont really care much about the dj's interaction with the crowd, but more about their style really, if they're having an off night, or arent playing what you're used to hearing from them, you wont have the best night out either

And I'll also say that a lot of times, it kind of disappoints me to see during a build, when the crowd is going nuts, the DJ is with his back toward us leafing through his CD-wallet. Kills the moment for me. Like I mean, I understand it's your job and this is everyday-business for you kind of like going to TA is mine, but at least try to look like you're there to enjoy the music you put out, and not look like you're there to get paid.

If you watch symphonies and like classical concerts, you'll see these guys are sooooo into the music when they play. They're lost in it, and that's what I want to see in the DJ performing as well. I really don't think that's so much to ask for considering they're supposed to be playing music they really like.

On the topic of not playing good tunes at all, it kind of depends for me. If I have better choices, I just leave. However, if the DJ is interacting well, he/she pumps the crowd as well, and when you have a crowd that's totally into the music and is just crazy-energertic, it's going to help you get in the moment as well, despite ty music being played. I feed off the crowd energy a lot at clubs. If I wanted to dance by myself, I'd stay at home and dance in my room.

TUNES. it is about the tunes. if the dj doesnt have much crowd interaction i am really not worried about it as long as he or she is delivering a choon fest. crowd interaction just makes it much more better.

i dont go to a club to see the dj put up a jesus pose and jump up and down behind the decks. i go to a club to hear the dj play tunes that will make me jump up and down. if me and dj both can jump up and down with the tunes being there then that is just awesome :D

With ya on that one, brutha.
