Us americans have to get this bizarre way of thinking out of our heads... we are not better than anyone else in this world.

Take a look at the persians actions- they want to be friends but america just isnt listening

As far as the west is concerned, Iran will be the next Iraq, but only on Iran's choosing. The UN security council and the general mood of the international community is that the Iranian regime can't be trusted to not develop nuclear weapons. They are secretive, closed off, and their government are theocratic doomsday islamists. Civilian nuclear programs ARE NOT supposed to be secretive, nor would I want such a government as the mentally insane ayatollahs to have a weapon of such power. They don't care about retaliation, that's the dangerous thing.

Oh come on, let's be at least intelligent about this.

uh...it's called demand.
When is the last time someone put nuclear energy in their car...

Certainly not even close to the same argument Iran is giving for their reasons.

Last time I checked Japan was more mountainous, more populated, and has no nuclear weapons. Hmmmm, odd for I seem to recall Japan as one of the world's wealthiest countries.

Japan has what Iran wants.. nuclear energy..

Japan uses hydroelectric power which is not possible for Iran because it has NOT one single river, than after that Japan uses nuclear power which is a good source of electric power, and than because of its proximity to China coal is imported for its power plant where as importing coal for Iran will be very costly because no coal mines nearby.. you can import finished product rather than importing coal to make electricity to produce that finished goods... Middle East is practically desert.. little rain what they get they use store it for drinking water, vast barren lands where its impossible to do 'farming'.. use some common sense if not economics.

List of Nuclear Power plants in Japan:

And planned constructions in future included:

http://www.japannuclear.com/nuclear...m/location.html

Thats 52 Units presently working in total and 3 more under contruction and 8 more planned for future..

Total = 62 Nuclear Power Units in a small country like Japan, now check map and size of Iran.

Okay Purple, I admit that you bring up some very good facts here.
Iran though isn't all desert though, now is it?
You're right Iran is much bigger in size when compared to Japan - Iran is about the size of Alaska.

Iran in recent years has been showing some progressive societal signs as far as building up a good interstate system in Tehran, and opening a metro system. Still, as Krypton pointed out, if a true civilian nuclear program was what they were after there wouldn't be any secracy involved. Instead Iran's leaders keep tuting to their people that no country can stop its nuclear ambitions.

As I've stated in the past, I Personally wouldn't have been alarmed if it was Kuwait or the UAE who were after any kind of nuclear technology. On the other hand, when talking about Iran I can't help but be very suspicious of its plans.

I think Iran has a right to nuclear power, not nuclear weapons.

Iran has not one single river?

They must be crazy-good with the magic then. Or is it Western propaganda?

Jeez I cannot believe I have to spoon feed you..

Check this 'geographical' map of Iran here:

http://www.geographic.org/maps/new2/iran_maps.html

Now see you don't have any 'blue' lines in it.. which states there are NO rivers in Iran, you will see one blue spot on north west top near Tabriz, its a lake which is the biggest source of fresh water in Iran.. their are several 'irrigation' channels built from that lake and other parts of Iran whose 'sole' purpose is to store rain water and channelizes it for drinking/agriculture purpose .. and the dam you posted above is built around these 'channels' and not 'rivers'.. these dams are very small by international standards.. and can only provide electricity to a small 'village' for 'residential' purpose.. Iran needs electricity for its 'industries'...

Also scroll down below on that link and see the Population density map.. you will notice how all people live near that lake and practically 70% of Iran's population lives in North close to that lake and its channels.. rest of all Iran from center till East .. 70%% of total area is just dry desert with very few people living there....
