I test the comfort level of my headphones by taking them out for runs.
Technics RP1200s with its smaller earcups squished against my ears, making them irritated after 30mins or so of continuous wear. Even after breaking them in, I felt the headphones were too snug to my head.
Sony 7506s about hr and half before I get irritated due to bigger earpiece and snug level is just right.
If you're just mixing, and you're only wearing the headphones few mins at a time, I guess it's not that of a big deal, but I use my 7506s for bus rides, running and such. (My primary headphones are Senn HD25s)
Anyways, here's a review thread of Sony 7506s

Alex, I see your point with the ty old mixer, but that wouldn't do it for me.
I've been a sound tech for 3 years where I did amateur,semi-pro and pro stuff. I know how a mixer works. I've used many big mixers such as Mackie, Gemini (unfortunatly haha) or SoundCraft. My usual mixer was a Mackie VLZ-1604. Anyway, I know how I am and a ty mixer wouldn't fit me. I always want more, this is why am I really thinking to get the CDJ-800 over the 200 now.
But I see your point :) |

I guess I'll have to try them out. Headphones are a very personal opinion, and I used the 700 from Sony before, but I didn't like it as much as I like my Sennheiser today haha
I gotta check Moog soon. Does Moog has headphones in demo so I can try them on ? |

Ok so I went to Moog tonight...this is my review haha
I walked in and the staff left me alone for about 5min to let me see what they got. The thing I didn't want to happen, DID happen...I felt in love with the Xone:92 :(
First of all I tried some headphones on the Xone (and a Numark Axis 8 that was hooked up). Overall, I much prefer the Pioneer. The Technics hurts me after 10min while the Pioneer are really confortable and sounds better to me. So my choice goes to Pioneer for the headphones.
The CDJ-800MK2 wasn't in demo so I couldn't try it. But I tried the CDJ200 and 1000MK3 and of course I was really impressed with the MK3 and even with the CDJ200. I'm going to Solotech on Monday and check out if I can try a demo of CDJ800 if they got one. But I'm pretty sure I'm staying with these.
Now the damn mixer...I'm still not sure about it. I tried the Xone:32, 64, 92 and DJM-1000. They didn't have the DJM-400 on demo unfortunatly. I didn't really like the layout of the Xone:32...I love touching the gain control and it was odd because this control is on the back panel. The 62 was great on the other end, layout was much better and I like that the mixer has 2 mid on the EQ. Then the DJM-1000. Very great mixer but there's something wrong with it. Effects are very interesting, but still, something is bothering me.
This one deserves his whole paragraph...the damn Xone:92. God I love this one. I stayed 25min playing on it. I got a 4 years background in sound so I know how a mixer works (Mackie and Soundcraft user inside). It took me 5 sec to power it up, and I was already learning the filters. At the end, I was pretty good I think haha ! I just wished I had 2 cd players to try some mixes, but I definitively like the filters on the Xone, which is a big lack of the DJM. And to be honest, because I know how I am and I know that I'll mix a lot when I got my gears, I'm really considering the Xone:92 as my next mixer. I'm not a basic user, I know how it works, what's a sound wave, what the LPF does and specific things like that, I just have to learn how to fit these things in a mix and I know that if I get a Xone:32, I'll want the 92 within a year...
So that was my story. The price went up now to 4k if I get the Xone:92. Many of you will say that this is way to expensive for a beginner, but for now I see it as this is a beginner setup and a professional setup also that I'll use in both occasion. This is investissement for many years...
My decision isn't final yet, I'm waiting to see what Solotech will offer me. |

| The xone:92 is a sweet machine man, it has some basic MIDI control aswell which I spose is a plus. |

I don't really know what to do with a MIDI control...basically what could I do with this ? plug into a computer is use Ableton or Torq ? |

| the 92's midi control is worthless. it has a few controls which are midi mappable and has a midi clock. |

This is the inevitable truth to every xone32/62 user who wants to improve themselves.
It takes a while to truly absorb a mixer to second nature, but trust me the 92 is gonna make you happy for a very very long time, especially if its rotary :)
I'm definately gonna have some filtersex the 28th of april with Wisnia's xone92! |
