i said if u guys like hearing trance at 128 BPM then that's all on u.
Jason JOllins sucks. He should stick to playing house as an opener.
I'm no kiss ass. I don;t need any favors from someone who doesn't even have a track out.
Who is Jason JOllins?? Pacha should book real talent as resident dj's [if JJ is even a resiednt dj]
Take a look at the old Space and Edgar V as the resident.. Up to the new space which had Oscar G, ROland and someone else I forgot.. to now with Cedric G and Ivanno.
They got much more cred in a big club.
Pacha is wonderful and great club. I liked it alot.
JJ was the worst opener hands down out of all the cities I have partied in. I don't care if he's friends with everyone on the board.
IF U GUYS DO NOT NOTICE THE SLOW ASS TRANCE HE PLAYED THEN U GUYS ARE DEAF!
Constructive criticism. That's all it is. ;)
edit- If JJ is the opener for these big events then one thing NY and Miami have in common.. Smaller parties with Martin Roth and Talla+Dinaire are MUCH more fun. |
stop hating mel
jollins has a few tracks out and owns a respected label, acute.
when have we seen edgar v put out a track out? hmm dont think ever..
also this is nyc, not miami. so yes we do things a lil different and if its playing trance at a slow bpm then so be it. not something i would chose personally but hey, he was prolly tryin to please the trance heads since u guys bitch about everything non trance lol and what u expect him to do, to just take the pitch fader and move it to +8 so u guys can peak on ur rolls at 12:30am..come on. and yes im a house head, but i have an open ear for everything including trance. |

is getting personal here.
If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything.
Yes, everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but within the boundries of not offending anybody. |

| nice to see mel picking up right were she left off. get used to it NYTA's the girl is a bit of drama queen/hellraiser, but underneath her feisty exterior, she is sweet kid;) :D but i will agree with what is being said, the opener isnt supposed to bang it out. Edgar gets away with it in miami because he helped build the scene. but the transition is always smooth. melly, relax kid:wtf: |

wow, i don't read TA for about 1.5 days and this is what happens to this thread...VERY INTERESTING.....
Sorry, but i think we totally **differ*** in the definition of constructive criticism.
This is defniitely not constructive criticism... to diss someone's style
- u can say somethings not ur style, but if other ppl like it, thats their business and u shouldn't say anything more about it. u don't call ppl deaf and just cuz they don't agree with you. that is to the point of being INSULTING. and thats NOT COOL.
shruggs it all comes down to taste...no one can say whatever is considered good or not...who says they are the ultimate *EXPERT* on everything . Opinions vary, and we are just all stating our opinion, u don't see me saying something like oh how u are stupid for not liking his style, yet you are saying that we are *ALL* stupid...(correct me if im wrong but thats how I AM READING IT. Seriously...be a little more relenting and recognize that everyone has different tastes in music and style and not be as closeminded.
this is edm, there are different genres, we all are united by a love for the music, and just happen to LIKE and LISTEN to DIFFERENT things...if something isn't quite our style, well we can say so but we can respect it as well. shruggs
and thats ok, no one is STUPID for anything. that just causes more drama and i dunno, i really hate drama, would prefer not to see like that on here.
and this is JUST a board, not a place to ***HATE*** on anything or anyone. geez please keep the peace within the community. no need for all this crap.
Mind you...im not usually this vocal, i usually just prefer to let these debates go on and on until someting is resolved...but this just hit a nerve. i just think this has gotten a little FAR and a little too personal within this passage. One can objectively criticize something without INSULTING EVERYONE.
and that's my $.02.

well it sounds like u already have ***decided*** what type of parties that u like (the smaller parties and stuff) so thats great for you, that is what you prefer. so just refrain from going to all the BIG parties from now on, problem solved! There are certainly PLENTY of events going on in NYC at any given time, and you could very easily avoid giong to any Made Events parties going forward. Made Events obviously regards JJ very highly in order to have him on board with them, so are they considered stupid as well? lol |

^^^You go, girl! I don't think everyone gives Jason good reviews because we "need favors". He's consistently good and provides the best opening platform/foundation for every DJ he opens for (and does it so tailored-to the DJ he is playing with). NYTA is a tufffff crowd so it takes a lot for people to give as much support and respect as we've given Jollins over the years. The way I view (and most people who know a thing or two about musical progression through the night) it is that..... a "banging" opening DJ = a bad opening DJ.... I opened for resident's night at Avalon last year and by the time I was done with my set, I felt so bad, I was playing so energetically, the place was going crazy <--- That's not a GOOD thing. The resident I was opening for, Eyal Hen, was not too happy for that and sure enough, I heard it from the management a few days later ("Dude... You played an awesome set... but...").... Another thing to consider is this... The way Mike Bindra sets up his parties gives him a say in everything. I'm sure if Edgar V were to be brought here to open for Armin or PVD, he'd be given specific instructions by the Made staff on how to play, it's how it goes for all of the DJs, be it Blake Jarell (unfortunately, who couldn't make it to the gig), Jerry Bonham, or Jollins.
Word on the street is that the time Matthew Dekay banged it out before Markus Schulz, Markus Schulz gave a direct word to management to never have Dekay open for him again... I think that says something about the way the night is meant to be structured, musically-speaking, and the pressure the DJs are under to do as well as they can without stealing the show. |

| ur right, NYC is a tough crowd...and for Jason to have as much support as he does...it's because HE HAS EARNED IT. |
