so do you definitely want the big, luxury comfort option, at the cost of performance, or are you still considering something slightly more driver-friendly?

Buying a new high end car like a Lex, Merc, BMW, etc is very risky. If you look at the Merc SL65 they lost nearly 1/3 of their value in 2 years. Guys spent nearly 200k for a brand new SL65, now they go for 120. Theres no telling that the new Lex won't do the same. If you're spending 70k on a car, wait until the market settles a bit. I'm not familiar with your financial situation but unless $$$ is no object its just smarter to wait. Check out the used market, its super weak for these high end cars. Probably bc rich old men don't care for used cars. Plus these types of cars sell at a huge premium right after launch. The ballers step in and pay the $$ to be first. If you're a baller, do it, buy the brand new 460, its a great car. If you care about 10-20k in depreciation in 2 years, wait. IMO if you're young you should care about 10-20k regardless. I bet you'll see 460s with 5k or less miles selling for 15k off sticker within a few months. The downside is you can't customize the car for yourself, and there certainly is some prestige in the new car experience.

Personally, the 7 is a better buy than the LS. They are going for dirt cheap now. The Benz S class is another proven car that you really cannot go wrong with. The LS is a wonderful car but again, who knows about future values, maintenence issues, etc.

Good luck.

BMWs depreciate in value slower than any other cars.

I'd say get a Lexus.

Damn, why do car prices have to be that high over here.. (And yes, I know it's the taxes).

i don't care about depreciation...i'm planning on keeping every car i get for good...eventually i'll even get a 300 again for nostalgia's sake.

If you plan on keeping it long term, stay away from German. There is a reason Lexus is number 1.
