how many of you... (pg. 7)

I, personally, am tired of people asking, "What is the meaning of life?" There is no meaning. We exist because over billions of years we randomly happened to evolve from a single-celled organism into what we are today. There is no purpose for us being here but we are anyways, so suck it up and deal with it.

I also agree with a lot of what has been previously said on how we should live our lives. Today being my birthday I look back at the last twenty years of my life. As a kid it seemed like twenty years-old was a long time off that would take eons to reach. When I usually hear someone talking about how it took twenty years for something to happen, or it was twenty years ago that they were doing X thing, it sounds like it was a long time ago. When I think about it, though, everything that I can remember during the last twenty years feels like it's happened yesterday. It's been a great twenty years, but I only have approximately four to five of those twenty year sets left.

So what am I going to do with "life?" Just have fun. Do what I enjoy doing, fulfill myself instead of trying to accomplish what expectations people may or may not have of me. I have no expectations because, to me, that's forcing myself to do what "everyone else is doing" and if I'm only going to be here for such a short period I want to do what the I want. I also plan on visiting as many places across the world as I can (not necessarily soon, however). The Earth, when at least compared to humans, is ing huge. There's so much out there and it'd be a shame to spend most of your life staying in your own little corner.

So yeah... Hi!

...hmmm so you're claiming to know the meaning of life?...and the answer is that there is no meaning?

I think of this too. In a way, it's like redefining who (or rather what) you are in such a way that makes you immortal. What we are is a marriage of atoms and energy patterns. Those atoms were part of something else before they became a part of you (the food you eat), and when you die, they'll become a part of something else again. The energy that constitutes your consciousness comes from somewhere, and it's always transfered into something else. So in that sense, we never cease to exist, in death, we're only redefined and redistributed across other entities.

that's SO abstract to think about. the fact that matter cannot be destroyed. it reminds me of the movie 21 grams, when they say that that is the same amount your body mysteriously looses when you pass...does anyone know if that is scientifically correct? and do you think that mass only applies to things we can see, touch, feel? could a soul be mass?

i tend to try to stop thinkin' about all the things i wanna do goals and why im living for

i mean at some point it's like overthinking which totally stops u to take initiatives or just stress u so much

so yes i keep a more or less big idea of my goals but i try to go step by step otherwise i'll end up totally frustrated and unhappy

so if i tend to concentrate on the near future and present it doesnt prevent myself to look further but too much thinking kill the thoughts

:p

Urban legend.

The purpose of life is to live.

The fact that you exist is purpose enough for me.

Just how much life has meaning to you depends on how well or poorly you live your life, because in the end, your life belongs to you and no other human being.

(did someone say all this already)?
Frenchie
Saying that the meaning of life is that there IS no meaning is like saying you're living for nothing if there is nothing really to live for.

No one knows the meaning of life until it's over, so in reality no one will ever know because once you're gone I highly doubt you're going to be able to pass the info over.

If somebody wants ill come haunt you and tell you the meaning of life when i die...

Frenchie
Right on. I'll even leave you a bowl of gazpacho.

I just take each day as it comes. Just live each day and see what happens. I agree with Frenchie, I believe there's a meaning to life when you're nearing the end of it and you can reflect back on the things you've done. Occasionaly I can be a deep thinker about these things but try not to dwell on it too much.
