My friends are getting back in about 30 mins, I'll ask them what was up (since they're more non-edm crowd).

It's just so much easier this way :p

Trent Cantrelle was sick. PVD was sick. David Guetta was the highlight for me. Enjoyed Felix, but not as much as Guetta. Tiesto was fun in a his own way, but I did not stick around until the end, though I did hear his set all the way in the camp ground. DJ Heather was pretty good. Really thumpin. MSTRKRFT was definitely one of my favorites. Killed every track. I spent lots of time in the Sahara tent but was really there for Rage. They did not disappoint. Very happy with the weekend. Oh and Tom Morello as the Nightwathman is great!

some of the band members in Arcadia Fire started demolishing some of their equipment and went really crazy. it was quite a scene!!! also, my colleague here at work met several of them some time ago and i hear they are nuts behind stage too. :)

In no particular order.

First off, why did every french act say, "Hello, I'm French and from France." Duh.

Recycling 10:1 was the best idea ever(TM). There was so little trash at all anywhere, and it was easy to find anyone that wanted their 1/10 of a free water so I could just hand them my empty and keep on dancing.

Second best idea ever(TM) was the separate entrance for VIP/camping. A great bonus for them.

Never got bothered by security for anything, but I "plan" well. Never got hassled by anyone there; did security help out a guy tripping on something Saturday night during Infected Mushroom. Otherwise, I think they all left to deal with the RATM fans on Sunday.

Those multicolored lightbulbs. Yum. :)

Oh, the solar flowers were cool.

Del Taco & In&Out>any festival food. But, we got the drink hookup at Red Robin both Sat&Sun.

Friday:

Hits:

Bjork was great. Very hard style (compared to her 2002 show). We all thought they paid that guy that ran that circle-machine-sound-thing by the second (that's all they showed most of the time...) "Thank You, Thank You"

Faithless, yum. Excellent, excellent set.

Rufus, I cried. He was so good.

Amy Winehouse was great.

I enjoyed David Guetta, but wasn't anything outstanding.

Misses:

Digitalism. I just couldn't get into their set. Technically, they were outstanding.

Peaches wasn't as good as her UCLA set last year.

One of my friends saw Gogol Bordello, and said it was awful; he left to see Bjork, and he _hates_ Bjork.

I didn't see Artic Monkeys cause I saw them last year in London.
I did want to see Interpol.

Saturday:

Hits:

MSTRKRFT. Wonderful. I'm more :( now that I missed their show with Digweed in March. Danced for the entire time...to:

Busy P & DJ Medhi had such a great timeslot and set and they had such a great time.
They cracked us up: "MSTRKRFT had 10,000 people, and we have 300 people, but we're the highlight of the show; we're the main stage!"...to:

Faithless. Excellent. First US show (I think). I picked them over GirlTalk, it was such a hard choice...to:

LCD Soundsystem tore it up. Probably the highlight of the weekend. Better than their last Coachella show; will probably see them again at the El Rey soon.

Misses:

Gotan Project. Boring. Their CD isn't bad, but not into their live act.

Tiesto. Even if I was interested in trance anymore, I'm not sure if it was a good set.

I missed GirlTalk (for Justice); It was a hard choice. It was a huge party, and Paris Hilton was dancing on the stage.
No interest in RHCP.

Sun:

Hits:

Soulwax. Their first part of their set was a bit boring, but they brought it on during the last half, and a good time was had by all.

Willie Nelson. I got hijacked by some friends and we couldn't decide on anything, so we headed over to Willie. Awesome show. We all texted our parents and told them we were seeing Willie live...I think my parents are scared of me now...hehe.. He's 72 and sounds great; his guitar is so beat up and worn but awesome. And the drummer had been playing with Willie for 41 straight years. Damn.

Infected Mushroom: Good set, but they're here alot (and EDC in a few months).

Paul Van Dyk: Was fine. I am tired of a couple of things: His beatmatching is subpar. He _always_ plays the same closing songs (Time of Our Lives, etc...) EVERY live set. It was nice the first 5 times, but it's getting really boring.

Misses:

Happy Mondays. Yah, the drugs helped. Oh well, it was someone who I needed to see.

Kaiser Chiefs. Yawn.

Parking. They closed off ave52 to lot 4 from our less-known path like 4 cars right before we parked, so we had to go all the way back around to avenue 50. At night, we got in our car at 12:45 and we didn't get onto ave50 until 1:45. insane. Parking for the rest of the weekend was fine...I just don't get it.

Missed Rodrigo Y Gabriela cause of Soulwax conflict. :(
Missed the Roots.
Skipped Air (saw them 2 years ago), but they're always quality.
Missed the Teddybears, alas.

We missed most of the dome during the weekend.

I think that's everything.
Our beds were quite comfortable, but the maids didn't clean up our place on Saturday. Suckage.
Cabazon outlet malls rule.
We took some random road in Riverside to skip the 60/10 traffic near Beaumont this morning. What was up with that?

Oh I forgot; I met some guy in the pool that lives in Nashville that manages some bar out there. He's on a road-trip with some friends out here; they're documenting the trip, etc... He told us to come to Bonnaroo...it's a more laid-back atmosphere (yay) with everything.

Oh, reserve your rooms next week for 2008. No really.

Looks like the order of events in the universe was:

Wow! Coachella was great. What a fun time, so many good bands and dj's.

I went with a more non-edm group, so I didn't see some of the Sahara acts that I wanted too. =( O'well, there is always next year.

Review of the EDM events:
Tiesto - a pretty 'meh' experience for me. He played the two crappiest tracks off his album "He's a Pirate", and "Dance4Life", I was surprised that he didn't do too many gay dj moves. Despite the fact that I have heard Adagio a ton of times, I still like that he closed with it. I wasn't impressed, but wasn't sorely disappointed so B- for Tiesto. Also, those were the most retarded visuals I have ever seen. EVER. People jumping around in leotards is a buzz kill at any event, let alone Coachella. I want to hear the reasoning behind that... I am still sorely confused at how/why Tiesto closed mainstage?

PvD - Loved it. The set stared off rocking, but then it kinda lagged a bit, and then picked up at the end. I was sad that it is so short. Why did Richie get to play for so long. I got in on the last half of his set, and was kinda bored. Glad that PvD was coming on soon. Met some random chick who had a RAWR cute friend. I really didn't like stormy skies when I first heard the radio rip, I thought it was cheese and tehgay, but now my opinion has changed. It's actually not so bad imo. Paul was really having a lot of fun it looked like. The crowd was pumped but thinned out towards the end. I think Time of Our Lives has seen its day and its time for it to die. I can't remember, but I think he closed with Anthem, and everybody was going nuts. There was this random guy next to me that kept yelling in my ear about how great it is, that was annoying.

Hawtin - Last half of his set, was boring, technical was pretty spot on, but tracks were boring compared to some of his other sets I had listened to. I was counting down the minutes till pvd.

MSTRKRFT - Heard the first half and was having a blast! Yay, I won't miss them if I am in town next time. Holy sick basslines!!!

Hot Chip - wow. I love hotchip. I had to leave the tent and go out though, because when they were playing it was like 20+ degrees warmer in the tent than out at the side. I really enjoyed dancing to them.

Non-EDM
Arctic Monkeys - Great show, but they need to work on their band-banter. Main singer guy is just really talented, and I had a lot of fun listening to them.

Tapes N Tapes - vocals sucked, was disappointed.

Kooks - rocked it! They are a great band. Also need a little vocal work action

Kid Beyond - I really like that guy as a performer and person. He seems like he has his head on straight and is not a moron. He had a solid act. Cathedrals is an awesome track!

RHCP - what a great performance! no? Classic! So many good songs played, I had a really enjoyable time listening to them. The LCD things they had on the top and bottom of the stage were so cool looking!

Roots - Great performers! I thought the cover of the American anthem was funny. When he started singing snoop dawg and nobody else sang a long he laughed. It was sad.

Rage - It was soooo hot waiting for them. The crowd stretched as far as I could see, it was all the way back by the Dome I think. We were pretty close, and I knew I was going to be in trouble because of the people I was standing next to. They were pretty hard core, and dancing violently. When Gorilla Radio came on I was actually kinda afraid, but I still had a TON of fun. The crowd was NUTZ. They whine about rich people, but they probably got payed a GRIP of cash to play.

How sweet was that Tesla coil?

I was sad I didn't see any TA's the whole time =(. I want to meet some of you! I forgot to put some of peoples phn#'s in phone before I left. Sorry! When is the next TA BBQ? We oughta do one before Aug. so I can show up finally.

Complaints: TRAFFIC! wow. it took forever to get out sunday night. 1.5 hrs to get to the 10. Next time I am booking a hotel, my camping neighbors were funny, but morons.

All in all: way fun!

dope ass review dollaroff, you know how to party.

from what i remember seeing, raven and i were running and jumping all over the fields.. we saw.
and before i start my review i want to say damn i was excited about kaiser cheifs but i missed them too, oh well, i missed girl talk too.

fountians of wayne: dope, i bought their original cd back in high school, good stuff. only saw a few songs from em.

dj heather tore it up

steve aoki meh

MSTRKRFT tore it the up!!!

Justice was kinda boring for me, their mixing styles re not that great.

hot chip owned the mojave tent it was packed in there

strolled past the drum and bass dome, forgot to go in

checked out some awesome lights on strings

saw dj mehti from across the grass, good tunes!

went over and saw arcade fire, the sound for me in person doesnt have the depth as on recorded works... i dont know, they dont give me super dynamics live

RHCP were great! i could hear them clear across coachella grounds and they played a great mix of old and new, when they played dani california the whole festival lit up!! it was total hippieville ;)

tiesto was ok, same stuff lights were decent, he just plays music, his show is jst in your face. oh well, if tiesto has to be the embassador of dance music for the population, better him then james lavelle or dj AM. :-P or dj ryan seacrest or tommy lee.

!!! tore it up... i liked that vibe..

wish i got to go see: TRAVIS :( sad to miss!!! .. amy weinhouse, the rapture, more of lcd soundsystem then just checked it breifly at the back of the tent.

i love coachella experience, i love festivals.. i hate festival raves though.. i want to go to bonaroo. :) def coachella next year

recycling ftw
