Do you know the history? If you did, I don't think your opinions would be the same as they are now, and therefore I will conclude you are just trying to look smart.
History: 1993-1998 Negotiations happened with PA, strategy: gradual withdrawl in exchange for peace.
1998-2000: Negotiations happened with PA, strategy: complete withdrawl for complete peace.
2001: Negotiations happened with PA; strategy: (now Sharon) complete withdrawl of less areas then offered in 2000 for complete peace.
2001-2: Negotiations broke down, strategy: give war a chance.
Both these attempts (which was the span of 5 leaders).
You have to remember, the only reason Sharon got in office, was because of his hardliner approach. The Israeli people understood the elimination of Arafat was needed, and a war might prelude or conclude when this happened.
The Israeli people wanted to give war a chance, since peace talks had broken down. Why? Because "then and only then the palestinians really didnt show any interest in negotiation". Don't you think an agreement could have been reached in the 30+ years since occupation?
If Israel would have wanted the land then, or now.. why have they not annexed it?? Why?

There is still a right and wrong in this story, you just refuse to see it or except it do to the bias of the information from the media you are fed. Who started it? The Arabs (Palestinians) -1948.
And one child in the sandbox has evolved since then to a fullfledged adult, while the other remains in there, wanting to play like a child.

I agree, even me a pro-Sharon supported would have found a different phrase to use diplomaitcally when speaking of him, at least in regard to the current context of the time (perhaps latter when peace talks resume.. but).

Look, all my israeli friends, the only thing i'm trying to prove is that the palestinians are just as much victims as you.. you both have real idiot governments..
but lets cool this down... ariel sharon is no hitler, ariel sharon was a war hero but he is a criminal, just like slobodan milosevic, thats a fact. yasser arafat is also a criminal but removing him from palestine wouldn't be such a wise choice because if they did someone from one of these fundementalist groups would take over the power.. and that wouldn't make the situation better.. israel knows this and the whole world knows this.
the struggle for peace continues.. and i sincerely hope that you all, my israeli brothers and my palestinian brothers, find that, and i will keep on study on this issue and try to help the best i can.
ps. one my friends, iranian as me, is about to get signed on an israel label, the iranians will surely put fatwa on him (damn mothering islam government) :D

Im glad to see everyone in here can still say civil about this whole topic. Proximus, i enjoyed your last post, same wit cweb. listen i know i cant go and convinence people to change their view in one thread, im not that stupid. i enjoy these debate and have participated in many here and outside in real life. i have NEVER come accross someone like RebeL9. i dont know if he's always this stupid or making a special effort today, but i truly belive he deserves to be banned or at least somehow punished for what he has said (and its many things). i mean come on everybody has the gift of stupidity but he's abusing the privilege. i havent even seen one apology. i really wish to continue this debate until it dies of natural non posts. but i can't tolerate comments such as those taken by rebel.
