To all who wonder.....Joel uses Ableton and does all his sets LIVE!!! And for the record before EVERYONE went DEADMAU5 crazy let's not forget now.....We (TriLektro PhunK) were the first to book him here in Toronto along with Chris Lake at Butterfly for 'BUMP' Thursdays way back on April 19th, 2007, now everyone else is going crazy booking him & working with him. Joel is amazing in many ways hence the reason we brought him here so long ago....and only $10 for both HUGE artists.....classic example of politics in Toronto and how people only support the main players in the city!!!
P.S. - This is Jeff, not Carlucci!!! Forgot to sign in under my own alias....my apologies!!! |
Politics? Na uh, thats a classic case of promoting gone wrong. I woulda been there in a split second had I known Chris Lake was there, I never remember hearing about the party before OR after (this post is the first I've heard of it). Shame it didn't work out for you guys as thats a great booking. |

okay, let me clear this up, because this is getting kinda annoying.
Chris Lake was not to be billed, nor was he scheduled to play. i've made this very clear to both the promoters involved, however, someone along the line thought it would be witty to put "with special guest Chris Lake" on the promotional material... which was already ill advised by myself MANY times.
the whole ing stink about it was, they had booked me while chris was visiting me here in Toronto, and i had just simply asked "can i put him on the guest list" ... and somehow that was someones cue to start asking if he can play, blah blah. He was just there working with me in the studio for a completely unrelated matter, and to "piggy back" off of that fact alone, was really ing idiotic in my opinion.
Chris is a good friend and i invited him out for something to do / drinks .... all the rest was bull. |

Yeah I remember that a couple months back, I saw some promos that said 'with special guest Chris Lake' and after that event people were bitching that Chris Lake didn't play.
Anyways hope you had fun at MoS that must've been a special night for you. I enjoy a lot of your productions and can't wait to see you on the 28th. |

wrong. first of all, you were not my first Toronto booking by a longshot... second of all, you did not book Chris Lake. In fact, i remeber telling you countless times not to bill him, as he was just in Toronto as my guest, as he was working with me in the studio that same day.... but you went ahead and piggy backed off it for a little extra shameless self promotion, now who looks like the idiot here? well, if youre doing anything by this, youre making Chris Lake look like a ing tool for "showing up and not playing" he wasnt playing because you havent booked him. he was just accompanying me for a couple of drinks, and you ing blew it up like he's a special ing guest, hell, you even put him on the flyer + web press... what the for?
anyways Jeff, as much as i thank you for your compliments and nice bits... you really did nail the subject of "....classic example of politics in Toronto"
sorry this is pretty ed up, but i dont want Chris looking like a ing idiot here... and thats what tends to happen when people do things the wrong way. |

Kinda reminds me of a Marty McFly face actually (the breaks DJ, not the character from Back to the Future). LOL he's pure jokes, always goofing around.
Highly comical |
