Anyone notice their short term memory going down the tubes ever since drug use? I do. I mean, looking back, I had excellent memory, but everything is kind of foggy once drugs entered the picture.

I'm not saying I'm as dumb as a rock, but sometimes I get these brain farts and I'm like, "jesus Jamie wtf". Like I literally have a hard time remembering stuff from the day before. Is that normal?

The other night this chick came into the restaurant that I work at and I instantly remembered her name and that she was the step daughter of my tennis instructor when I was in 5th grade. lol I knew her name and everything. Most people just don’t remember that , but I did. I wasn’t even good friends with her.

It just seems like I have no problem remembering stuff from before I started using drugs. I mean, obviously this is a no-brainer. Obviously my drug use has affected my brain. I'm just wondering if anyone can relate, and also, is there anyway to fix it or am I permanently brain damaged?

Well, d'oh. Welcome to last week. They don't say 'drugs are bad' for nothing.

Jamie... it doesn't surprise me that yet once again, our lives show an eerie sense of being parallel to each other. i was exactly the same way when i was a kid. all throughout elementary and middle school i was one of the brightest kids in all my classes... taking advanced and honors classes and getting into special programs and winning scholarships and all that smarty-pants crap.

high school was all about discovering boys and alcohol, which definitely impacted my grades. i didn't work as hard, and i cut a lot of classes, but i still graduated with pretty good grades. then right after i finished high school i got into drugs and decided college wasn't for me. ever since then it's been a careful balance between working my butt off during the week (luckily in a job i love) and letting loose and partying on the weekends. i firmly believe in "everything in moderation," although there were times in my life when i pushed that saying to the back of my mind without really caring or thinking about the consequences.

i dunno, it kind of sucks to admit it but sometimes i do feel dumber than i used to be... and my memory has also been affected although it's not too much worse. i can still remember really random and pointless things with no problem, but sometimes i totally lose track of what i'm doing and where i'm going and i end up double-checking everything just to be sure. i think a lot of it has to do with getting older and having more responsibilites as well.

drugs have impacted my life in major ways, both positive and negative. i think the key is just knowing when to draw the line and when you need to take a step back and chill out for a while. you can't lose touch with reality. and like anything, it's bad to over-do it... but it's still fun.

So that would mean quitting (lol, I know the thought is ridiculous) doing drugs and drinking alcohol.

The though of quitting drugs is ridiculous? Wow, you really are stupid.

I usually think of memory loss attributed to the usage of hard drugs...but what about alcohol and memory loss? I'm not talking about when you can't remember events from when you were drunk...but do you guys think that someone who regularly drinks will be have their memory impacted when they're sober and trying to recall day to day things?
