i just think it's strange how gifted and smart i was until i started using drugs. now i'm just average in the brains department with ty short term memory lol

if you were to go back in time and do it all over again would you have still done the same you did during high school/etc or was all that drug use and partying worth it because it was "fun" regardless of how dumb you've become and all the potential you've thrown away?

My memory went pretty screwy after MDMA/MDA/meth entered the picture... Been clean a long time now and it's gotten better, but it's sure not exactly the same as it had used to be.

All drugs are going to affect your brain (alcohol included)...just depends on how much drugs and which kinds as to how much damage. I'm sure a lot of people would shudder if they had to see a CAT scan of their brain. That aside, you only live once and if you have a good time and impacts your life positively well then maybe it's worth it. The s illegal for a reason, but then again we should all be able to decide if thats reason enough for us not to do it individually.

Best thing you can do is keep everything in moderation...take your vitamins and supplements before and after doing substances like e to minimize brain damage, and constantly exercise your brain. The human brain does repair and reroute itself around damage to an extent but only if you exercise it.

Jamie... it doesn't surprise me that yet once again, our lives show an eerie sense of being parallel to each other. i was exactly the same way when i was a kid. all throughout elementary and middle school i was one of the brightest kids in all my classes... taking advanced and honors classes and getting into special programs and winning scholarships and all that smarty-pants crap.

high school was all about discovering boys and alcohol, which definitely impacted my grades. i didn't work as hard, and i cut a lot of classes, but i still graduated with pretty good grades. then right after i finished high school i got into drugs and decided college wasn't for me. ever since then it's been a careful balance between working my butt off during the week (luckily in a job i love) and letting loose and partying on the weekends. i firmly believe in "everything in moderation," although there were times in my life when i pushed that saying to the back of my mind without really caring or thinking about the consequences.

i dunno, it kind of sucks to admit it but sometimes i do feel dumber than i used to be... and my memory has also been affected although it's not too much worse. i can still remember really random and pointless things with no problem, but sometimes i totally lose track of what i'm doing and where i'm going and i end up double-checking everything just to be sure. i think a lot of it has to do with getting older and having more responsibilites as well.

drugs have impacted my life in major ways, both positive and negative. i think the key is just knowing when to draw the line and when you need to take a step back and chill out for a while. you can't lose touch with reality. and like anything, it's bad to over-do it... but it's still fun.

lol yup. pretty much the same exact thing. +1 to all of that.

i wouldn't put myself in the genius category (obviously) but i was in all gifted classes, always qualified for AP classes in middle & high school. i was just really smart and one of those kids who could walk into a test and wing it and get a C from barely studying for 15 minutes. my reading comprehension skills and memory skills were ridiculous.

ahahaha! lol I didn't mean to sound like I was calling you stupid. Whooops my bad. I don't think your geniousness will ever go away, I mean it was a part of you then so it'll be a part of you now. You just have this cloudy filim over that section of your brain lol

Yes. But everyone goes through this drugs or no drugs.

True that. I think I've got a very good memory overall, but my short-term many is naturally weaker...

I don't ever remember where I put things, for example, and I'm a very disorganised person for that reason :p

Really its age more than anything. Talk to just about anyone over the age of 20 and you can bet your ass that their memory is not as good as it was 5 years earlier.

Personally, I think drug and alcohol abuse might even help you. If abusing drugs is killing brain cells its gonna kill off the weak ones leaving you in a better position since all you will have left is the good strong ones.

My memory has gotten better if anything...its opened new doors I never used before and I find myself remembering everything from random things someone said weeks and months ago to daily tasks...I dunno how but I like it
