Short term memory loss?

Anyone notice their short term memory going down the tubes ever since drug use? I do. I mean, looking back, I had excellent memory, but everything is kind of foggy once drugs entered the picture.

I'm not saying I'm as dumb as a rock, but sometimes I get these brain farts and I'm like, "jesus Jamie wtf". Like I literally have a hard time remembering stuff from the day before. Is that normal?

The other night this chick came into the restaurant that I work at and I instantly remembered her name and that she was the step daughter of my tennis instructor when I was in 5th grade. lol I knew her name and everything. Most people just don’t remember that , but I did. I wasn’t even good friends with her.

It just seems like I have no problem remembering stuff from before I started using drugs. I mean, obviously this is a no-brainer. Obviously my drug use has affected my brain. I'm just wondering if anyone can relate, and also, is there anyway to fix it or am I permanently brain damaged?

that & drinking. Yeah, it's been proven over & over & over again.

Back in the day, when I had the oz. per week weed habit, I couldn't ing remember what I had for breakfast. Since I laid off the weed, the memory is much better. However, I will say this, too: when I was in college taking 18 hr. semesters, my memory was being put to the test daily. After college, I didn't have to use memorization nearly as much, so I think that had some effect as well.

Moral of the story: weed is fun but it s with short term memory.

P.S. I had Multigrain Cheerios.

< all term memory loss, my biggest fault.

I am just scatter-brained with mundane tasks. Nothing to do with drugs. I can memorize the Office 2003 CD key no problem, but I can't remember my friggin' cell phone half the time.

The only remedy is prevention of further damage. So that would mean quitting (lol, I know the thought is ridiculous) doing drugs and drinking alcohol.

Also, keep your brain healthy by 'exercising' it. The phrase "use it or lose it" DOES apply here. Do things like crosswords, or read, or anything you find intellectually stimulating. Having strong social and emotional connections also helps.

There's lot of research out there about vitamins and minerals and such that have been shown to help increase brain function and improve memory too.

I have no idea how many movies I've seen yet not remember anything about it. Some movies I've seen 3 times and can't remember anything but brief scenes.
