Darn that's lame.Knowing that most Djs mix with Cdjs but still.Lame.

big financial risk, even if it does succeed, it costs a lot more, limited demand, time to press/distribute is undesirable. Can't really blame 'em.

Hmmm...yeah makes sense.Ten years from now vinyl totally fazed out.Only as collector item releases.I bet it'll happen.

Yeah, even a vinyl fanatic like myself can't see why the format should live much longer.

Due to a temp move to the other side of the world I switched to digital and everything in handling the music is better than on vinyl. When you buy it you get it instantly. It's cheaper per track. A lot easier to travel with. Plus, all promos I get are always on a digital format. Don't know any label that sends promo on vinyl these days.

However, I still prefer to do the actual spinning on vinyl. The hands on feeling of the vinyl medium is just so much more rewarding to me. But that's not really a reason for a medium to survive if the competing medium is better in every other aspect.

Agreed. Even if the tempo isn't 100% constant, I feel that I have much better control over vinyl than a CD. It's just something about being able to touch the platter or record to pitch bend. Oh, and we cannot forget that vinyl sounds better!

But, as much as I hate to admit it, CDs/mp3s will be the future.

I'll just totally hijack this thread since my query is about vinyl.

How do I get my hands on older releases only released on vinyl? I've tried e-mailing a couple of labels about getting singles on CD or digital, but most just tell me vinyl only sry. Is releasing a track on digital that much work? I'm willing to pay :(

Anyone specialize in releasing old releases on digital?

look on ebay.
Digital sites like beatport only sign record labels up not individual tracks then put all tracks up from that record label. The trouble is alot of older labels have gone bust and their not going to contact each artist just to put 1 track up its to much effort so they will never go on mp3 ur only hope is vinyl.
There could be some site out there that does get older releases i dont know.
