That is a really poor example - the levels are way into the red.

Who was it that said "sod the EQ's"?

id rather see a dj who cant mix but plays good tracks, than see you building a set with your six months of edm knowledge and eq'less perfect beatmatching. i can attempt to mix without eq's but it wont sound as good as if i can use eq's to remove interfering frequencies.

two things that piss me off about new dj's is that they always stand on the sidelines of the dancefloor listening for mistakes instead of enjoying the music, and they all seam to think that perfect beatmatching makes a good dj.

thats my point! you cant see much EQ use even though the mix is perfect

he seems to let the phrasing do the talking

rich - i've been into EDM for years, started djing a year ago but i dont consider traktor to be proper DJing, only got CDJs at xmas

edit - i do play good tracks, and my mixing isnt very good, so you'd like to see me yeah? :toothless :p

I don't think you shouldn't use the EQs, but I will say that most DJs I've seen have a tendancy to rely on their EQs too much and to overuse them.

Then again everyone has their individual idea of what good mixing is or isn't.

For good mixing, see Ferry Corsten ;)

Err... phrasing? What's that got to do with anything?
