| music is a matter of taste, learn to live with it... man i dont get it why there has to be a sean tyas thread every 3rd day on this forum.. it is starting to tell more about the people replying to these in general, than the man him self. |

i believe you didn't read well, i wasn't talking about sean's music but about the fact that some guy said that people react mostly to the melody of a track. Which is not false but it's a bit simple to reduce dance music to the melody.
And also what experience this guy has to say such things. |

| the tyas hate threads are getting old. If you really hate him why don't you personally email him and talk to the man yourself instead of barking blindly in the dark in these threads. YEah the man has done alot of remixes and reworks, but whatever thats his decision as a musician. I personally loved lift and alot of his other works. Yeah he curses a ton during interviews, but cursing doesn't represent cockiness necessarily. If you talk to him the man is extremly nice and helpfull especially when I had questions about producing. Again like his music great, don't like his music great too, but if you really have a problem with it either try to change it and the scene with your own productions as ferry corsten said or try talking to the man yourself. |

Again I respect Sean as an artist, yet I still don't the point of your argument, everyone is entitled to have its own point of view (as a clubber, or dj), experience has nothing to do with that things. |

Plenty of experience. I've been growing up with music of all forms my entire life. I've been DJ'ing since about 15 (I'm 20 now), I self-taught myself to play the violin at the age of nine, self-taught myself the bass guitar and string bass at age 12, and likewise with the alto saxphone at 14. I'm currently learning acoustic guitar. I played in my school orchestra for seven years, two of which were in one of the highest-ranking high school orchestras in my state. I played bass guitar in my middle school and high school jazz bands, both of which were among the highest-ranked in my state. In addition, during middle school I marched with the band when we became the first middle school marching band to play a college football halftime show.
I've done nothing but grow up around music, it's all my dad lives for so by proxy it was always playing and we would always sing along to it. I've been going to concerts since the age of three and attending EDM events for more than enough time to realize that it's the melody that people react to the most. I've gone to rock concerts, jazz concerts, orchestral concerts and plenty of EDM events to boot.
So, do my musical experiences live up to what you what you expect them to?
Other elements matter, yes. However when it all boils down to it, people want melody; ever wonder why Techno, Minimal and Tech House don't get loved too much by most of the people here? When the Trance fans listen to it they don't like it because it's "boring" and "has no melody." ...... wait? No melody? They don't like it because it has no melody? But it has a ing sick bassline and percussion! It's such a shame you don't like it because it lacks a melody!

Of course it is. If you have trouble reading a crowd then there's something you're doing wrong. If you think it's so complicated then I ask you present examples as opposed to simply sarcastically saying, "So it's that easy?" |
