its this sort of thing which makes me realize i was right when i said it was trying too hard... maybe think a little less about the next one and feel a little more? from what you said it seems like u took a loooong time planning out the TL... maybe try a something a little more improvised

greg no offense, but he does this using decks and you do it using ableton studio mode. I loved the last mix you did alot, but if it would have been live i'm sure there would have been some detractors too. You had a million opportunities to fix up your mix..he had just one. It makes a huge difference you know. (and im not taking anything away from your mix as good beats is good beeats...just yeah it all seems a little hypocritical)

this isn't a mix comparison thread.

I see what you're saying but I think it's pretty irrelevant- my comments have nothing to do with the actual mixing of the set, just the set as a whole and how it isn't quite working for me.

plus my suggestions are for him- if someone were to offer me the same suggestion, id definitely listen to them ;) everyone is going to do their own thing... this is why personal feedback is so important, because we're all at different stages, doing different things.

look i don't want you to get offended greg...and all critiques are good, but i got personally offended a bit because i dont think you could do something this good with vinyl or cdj...prove me wrong:p Re-read your comments, you come off like some guy who has been in the business for 18 years, yet that is your age. You made some really good points dude but yeah, quit trying so hard:)

and dude this is just an opinion..not a personal attack..as you know i try and support you even on boards where you don't speak the language.:)

i know what you mean.. and of course i dont take this as a personal attack, you and i are gonna discuss regardless... i dont take any of it personally and read it all carefully.

if anything my attitude is a reflection of the threadstarters... just read the opening blurb.

as for me and my , we can talk about that in my mix thread- no point in talking about it in here.

i think i'm just grumpy because i did Calderone without any "help" from substances, feel older than jesus and wanna pick on the youngins. Then again i really enjoyed this alot and feel like defending it because there are no bash robbiej and his horrible taste in music on mtlta opportunities today:)

you know i had nothing negative to say about your set as it was quite perfect.I've been killing myself practicing with my cdj's to get my mixing where i want it to be yet can't get a comment on that..only that it seemed empty:p

@allied - it's not like i had post it notes all over my walls and crazy arrows drawn from track to track john nash style when i say i went through many changes in the TL

i meant that i kept getting new music and delaying the mix because i wanted to include new tracks. i think about my tls, but it's more of an intuition than anything

in the end it was rather spontaneous, like any act of creativity. actually though I think in general people should do more thinking about everything they do. I hate that sense of "it's not cool if you think too much" that pervades any 'hip' culture. People like to say this to others in order to make themselves feel 'hipper' and self righteous. IMO that should have been left behind in high school. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, but I've experienced that my entire life from people and i just don't agree. I'm fully intent on being myself and making mixes the way I make them.

btw tried downloading your mix last week but it said the zip was corrupted. i'll try again soon

for the record, i think you have some talent and the ability to do some cool ... if i didnt i wouldnt have wasted all that time arguing with that ing monkey :P

the mix is a lot better than most of what i hear lately and really it's just a matter of time until you really are on some crazy crazy ... i just want to hear it develop more. seems like you're doing what feels right, right now, which is far more important than thinking anything... just keep your head in check and you might turn out all right :p
nefardec
ok pops lol

no seriously though i've been told that before mostly in the visual arts. it's something i do struggle with
