I'm really not that terrible a person, but I don't take crap, I certainly don't need to sell drugs to make a living and I'm hardly this huge monstrosity of social disorder either in appearance or behaviour.
There's two reasons I've found out why they don't like me, both are extremely hurtful and discriminatory and exactly the reasons why I don't want anything to do with these people. I was happy to ignore them for a few years in the hope they'd oblige me my privacy in return.

its kinda funny that they mistook you for a drug dealer. my 2 roomies and i used to live in these apartments. it was full of illegals that thought we were drug dealers so they didnt ever complain or cause trouble. it was great. we could be loud and never have to worry. although those apartments were total e. |

i live in a huge apartment complex in the suburbs with lots of Eastern Indian people (language barrier for sure, and they mostly seem to be pretty shy), lots of lower/middle-class families, and lots of younger couples... but most people pretty much just keep to themselves.
i'll always say "hi, how's it going?" if i see people around my building, but that's the extent of the conversation usually and i don't know any of my neighbors well enough to knock on their doors for a cup of sugar or anything like that.
i live alone but i don't spend a ton of time at home, so it doesn't really bother me that i live in my own little world.
my old apartment though... man that place had such a cool atmosphere. it was downtown and it was all studios so it was mostly students and single people. the girl across the hall from me was a very friendly Polish girl who i used to tease when she made out with American boys in front of our building. down the hall there was a younger guy who was a full-time cook. next to me was another girl who was a student and a bartender. below me was the apartment manager who was an old guy who liked to play darts.
and the most memorable one - the drunk on the first floor who used to bitch about how he was "thisclose" to signing a new band. according to him he was a manager, but all i ever saw him do was drink whiskey and stumble down the street.
i can't wait to live downtown again. i miss being in a busy/friendly atmosphere. |

They are in my neighbourhood. The difference is Jenny lives in a commuter community.... most the people there are Torontonians that have moved to the 'burbs and work in toronto. Generally, they just want a place to sleep and a low mortgage payment, they don't want to be bothered getting to know each other. |

maybe it's not lilith that has the problem but the joneses.. we just bought a house in a small town 20km west of the city and we made a point of moving next door to an empty lot, and a couple of bikers with harleys in the front.. we figured we'd get on better with them, it's the straight edge people that have been the most dysfucntional in my experience.. |

well i'm not there so i can't say anything definitively. all i was saying is when you look different, have different practices, and you keep to yourself, not associating with others, that generally creates fear and resentment.
i also think she doing the same thing by assuming the worst about them. she also has this ethnic chip on her shoulder. hey you don't have to be friends but it sure helps if your at least cordial. being neighbors is a lot like being married, communication goes a long way. btw, living in neighborhood is different than an apt complex. its almost expected in a complex everyone keeps to themselves. |

That would have been funny and a brush off any other day, except some dim bulb decided to call into some 1800DOBINADEALER number and the rozzers came around and pulled my house to pieces at 6am one Sunday morning which I didn't think was particularly funny at all.
Least they didn't find my guns I suppose, all very apologetic about it and they had nothing really to pin on me and had been under surveillance for a few weeks, all for nothing.
(Not the first time, good going former associates from my teens... such is life)
It basically did it for me, this means war.
I call the water authority on fairly much all of them for wasting water, (they get fined out the ass for wasting it) I point out property defects to the council for renovations that probably don't have approval. I crank out really loud music at all hours when it's quasi-legal to do so and have a loan of a very, very noisy turbocharged car which sounds like an earthquake on idle and rattles windows about a kilometre away when I give it some stick.

I didn't start this, but I'll sure as hell get my pound of flesh by the time it's over... oh yes. :mad:
