squirrelly
a key to get your car wheel off? I've never heard of that either
Theresa
It's a safety feature on a lot of cars. One of the lug nuts on the wheel needs a special key to get it off. It's so that only the car owner (or whoever has the key) can take the wheels off, thus preventing theft of the wheels.

So...you basically traded a freedom for security. The key prevents others from stealing your wheels, but if you ever lose the key, you basically lose your freedom to replace the car wheel whenever you want too. Ok, so it's a bad example, but I find this amusing nonetheless. Not to downplay the you had to deal with the night before though.

Well with a lot of the newer cars, it's an included feature. To be honest, neither one of us were even aware of it until we tried to take the wheel off. It wasn't something that was requested by us or anything.

Personally, I am not incredibly worried about someone stealing the tires, but people are pretty paranoid, so I understand why they have the precaution.

what kind of car is it? here in the states i dont know of any car under 30k that has them.

zharen: the key is normally kept in the car so really its not much of a "anti-theft" feature if you think about it. hence why overall i dont really like them but sometimes are a necessary evil.

You're an ass.

And I wasn't driving.

BTW, it is a 2006 Honda Civic LX, 4 door, automatic. It has rims... maybe that is why?

It isn't modified. It is all factory Honda stuff. :conf:

yeah its the rims...they arent factory rims (as in they arent ones that honda puts on but that doesnt mean they arent put on at the dealer) so they got those lugs.
