the yellow cable needs to go to the WAN port on your router. then plug another ethernet cable from the router to the computer. then unplug the power to the modem wait 10seconds and plug it back in. wait about 30seconds for the modem to start up and then test your internet connection. it *SHOULD* work. if not switch it back and let me know. |
:D Yep, that's what ya'd do if you wanted your wireless connection as the DSL Modem you have sounds like it doesnt have wireless capabilties anyway.

well i told you to do it this way to make sure that the wired connection is working. thats half the battle. once the wired connection is working we can work on getting the wireless setup ready to go before you actually go to the wireless. |

You need to have the Router + Modem next to the socket. The you can stick your computer anywhere in the house. You need to have a wireless network card in your computer or you can buy a USB Adapter to pick up the signal from the router.
You don't need to have anything from the router/modem plugged into the comp. |

You need to ensure the drivers for the USB Adapter are installed. You get an installation disk with the adapter? If you didn't then Windows should install the drivers for you. Vista you say?
I'd check the manufacturers website to see if they have drivers to download for vista as some software/hardware at the moment isn't compatible with Vista. |
