NE1 done with partying all the time?

I recall clear as a day, starting out on Friday - rolling to club in Philly, next day for some big name dj in NY, then all the way to Washington DC following weekend (if not the same). Most I've done was 3 parties in one weekend. In the last year or so, I've been out to maybe 1 or 2 parties a year.
Seems like either I changed or perhaps it ain't as much fun when you're sober or I'm getting too old to bother with this "drive 2 hours, party til 7, drive home with sun beaming in your tired and wasted face".... dunno.
Part of me gets excited but another one says - stay home. Like everyone is hyped up about upcoming Ferry's, Armin, PvD's gigs in NYC. Me? I'm like "meh.. whatever".
Just wondering how many TAs are not so much hard-core about partying nowdays. I'm more about XBox360/Going out locally to non-club events/working in my little home studio nowdays. what about you? |

| Well, I wish I could say I disagree, but I don't, I see the same thing happening with me and my friends and we're still young'ns. I remember just a year and a half ago, we'd be clubbing twice a week, if not at least once a week. When Spirit, Avalon, Deep, Crobar were all around at the same time, there was somewhere to go for us youngn's all the time, some quality DJ to go see and be hyped about. Now, I'm so busy putting on parties that going to other parties, yeah, it's fun, but there's no "omg!!! i can't wait!!!!" factor to it anymore :( I didn't wanna believe it when people said it but New York is dead. Sure, good parties are going on still, but no one I know really does the going out twice every week thing like we used to do when Exit or Avalon was still around... agh... New York... |

Стареем мы старик, стареем. Кстати, где твоий магазин? Надо будет тебя навестить - я помню ты говорил у тебя магазин для таких толстожопых как я? =) Короче, в ПМ депешу напиши, плз? :)
Yeah, I guess getting older sucks. And it doesn't help that you got a family, house, bills, etc - too much crap to think about, even while you're out. DAmn. I just made myself sad. :( |

i'm not feeling it anymore either, but it has nothing to do with NYC, it has to do with entering the 'real world'. Im just too tired most of the time. When i miss an event it's really no big deal. I could really careless, unless it's armin.
Before you put the blame on 'the scene' realize that clubbing is fickle and it works in cycles. The scene will come back. People have been saying that NYC is dead for years, and it never dies, it just changes. People are nostalgic and want everything to stay the way it was. The beginning of the end of this current cycle was when that jersey girl was raped and murdered last summer. That's when the city cracked down and shut down Spirit and brought the pain on crobar. New clubs will open and people will always go out. If people don't go out, where will they get to do their drugs in the open? |

have to disagree with you on that one buddy. My sobriety hasn't been fully self-imposed. I just don't have the connections anymore and getting some in the club, "in the open", as you say - I think I would have an easier time scoring some in in rabid feminist lesbians' compound. Of course it doesn't help that I look like a bouncer and majority tend to think I'm undercover narc. |

you disagree that people like going out to clubs to get ed up with other people? You're avoiding reality if you really believe that. |

I have family, wife, daughter, friends, marguages, business, stress and all that jazz also but I love my EDM! It was one way of going out when my friends and I did back then through the 90's and how I enjoy myself now. I party different and take my pleasure from it because I learned how to do it all in such matter that it doesnt hurt me nor the people around me.
Take pleasure out of life: you dont live forever. ;) |

noooooooo by no means, I don't disagre. sorry, I misread what you wrote. I thought you wrote where will ppl get their drugs in the open. I was sayng that I disagreed with that. Oh, as far as doing drugs in the open? Yeah. Can't argue with it. But I don't want to say that this was the main reason to go clubbing. I personally had moments when I was high as a kite on music alone. Not lately. Maybe it's me, maybe it's music that's being played now. Also, we didn't have the kind of availability of different EDM acts to us in US as we do now. I remember like in 2000 - 2002 you were lucky if you got 2 or 3 "big name DJs" to spin in US. Now, everyone and their mum gets a residency at club this and lounge that. So, maybe that spoiled us too.
And not to dust off my nostalgia completely but need I even mention Twilo? :( |
