RIchie Hawtin & DT Review

Alright since I'm awake now here is my review....
Got there at 1200 listening to some boring minimal guy for about an hour until he started picking up a bit and getting a bit harder and more grooving as time went along. Richie wasnt there at 1230 and didnt arrive until at least 245 and it took a half an hour to set up his equipment and wasn't on until 315. But when he went on the place went bonkers.
First track was just straight up banging in your face jumping up and down techno that couldn't get any better. Richie played like this for about a good hour and a half and then started going on a bit of a roll coaster ride of playing like deeper melodic minimal back to banging epic stuff. He didnt finsh his set until about 630 when DT came on talked for a good 10 mins and DT's first track was Richie Hawtin's track The Tunnel and played some good hard dark tech house. After that I was just so tired because I was completely sober (like I always am) and couldnt stay any longer so I headed off to the train station to go back to my humble abode in NJ around 730.
All in all, was heat! :disbelief |

it went until 1:30 pm
i just got back
ING INSANE
Hawtin's set was pure madness. I remember the second track was Gui Boratto - Chromophobia, somewhere in the middle was Ambivalent - Nugget, Shlomi Aber - Freakside was somewhere towards the end....and i don't remember much more from that period, only can remember about the last 3 hours of tenaglia's set. I was not digging DT's set at all for the first hour or two and then I got into it and stayed... he was playing reggae at the end and playing bizarre and maniacal samples about hamburgers
I WOULD LIKE A HAMBURGER |

Once again DT kills the vibe of a packed club during peak hours. :wtf: He really needs to go back to how he played in 2002-2003.
P.S. Damn Eco, its funny how the truth comes out being negative sometimes, but its still true. :D :p ;) |

little ticked ticked about the time hawtin went on...he was supposed to play at 1am but all the flights on the east coast were messed up last night.
I am not a huge techno fan and i had never seen hawtin.
GOOD GOD was his set on point....just hitting you over the head with bangers.
We bounced at 530....just dead but happy |

Its funny, Hawtin can do 50 consecutive gigs and play the usual boring minimal crap, but when he unleashes that hard techno, HE IS ON IN POINT. I guess last nite he decided to switch it up and play harder. Now I wish I had gone to this. :whip: |

LoL Pretty much just talking about Richie and how it was his birthday and Danny shut off the music and everyone that was still there sang the happy bday song n then danny got on.
And Yes Mr.Hawtin was on point totally ing out of control, layering sounds over sounds over sounds. Just pure madness    |

have to say that i was disappointed with richie's set (and not just because he didn't start until 3:15 or so). it might have been the crowd, but he played a very housey/tech-house set with very little banging techno - he had his moments when he was banging it out, but just wasn't feeling most of what he was spinning last night. he was layering on loops and (his usual) and laying on the base when appropriate, but compared to his set really hard, banging set in LA last weekend, this set was just medicore for me.
also, this is really the last time i'm going to pacha - the crowd wasn't too bad, but still it was bad enough to turn me off |
