OOO that capital;ism is evil, you mean I can work as hard as I want, risk losing all my money, make lots of it and be greedy, wow thats terrible Im going to move to EU where I work my ass off and then give it all back to the govt so they can redistrubute it to all those "refugees' who sit in the cafe all day and bitch about the country thats supporting them, and no Europe does not have it worse than NYC, its equal, if you want to talk about the rest of the USA Ill easily agree, but we rae taxed, feed, surcharged up our you know what all day here, have you looked at your utility bills or cell phone bills lately, check out the charges, do you havge a car, pay insurance, get tickets, go over the bridge, do you pay 3 gov't taxes like I do, if you buy gas or cigarettes Im sure you realuize how we are equal if not worse than a place like Sweden on any given day, and for the guiy who askled what this has to do with global warming, you must not be whatching the news or reading, this is all being done under the guise of saving the environment, and the green lobby is paying lots of money to push this, the same lobby that mandated all those bike lanes in Brooklyn, that took away valuable parking spots,for lanes that I see exactly 1 bike use a week, soory guys to argue politics, I usually dont do that on this board, but Im just sick of charges for everything, some of you who disagree with me bring up very good points, and I dont mean to be condescending just my thoughts, yes I understand saving the environment is important, but when put up against all the issues of the day, its on the bottom of my list |

Equal?? def not, i think you have things backwards... i got family in france and go there often and i can tell you that the quality of life is 10x better then it is in NYC or the US for that matter, we have one of the best healthcare systems in the world which is free, education is free, and working hours are less demanding simply because people arnt workaholics, the goverment does alot for the people which in this case is actually a good thing because everyone gets their fair share and is treated equally. I dunno about the rest of the places in europe but from what i know their way up there as well, more advanced in technology and modern. |

| The healthcare issue is a farce, the richest people in the world come to USA for healthcare, because its the best here, with all new technologies, practices, and medicines, and the best mediacl/research universities in the world. Yes there is a healthcare problem for the MIDDLE CLASS 9the poor get Medicaid), and it has to be solved, but noone should talk about the lack of good healthcare, we are world renound. Quality of life is a judgement thing which none of us can argue cause its simply opinio, but you do have a point with work hours and vacations, all Europeans are better off than us when it comes to that, Ill concur. We also must remember that our European friends are subsidized bu the USA's tremendous amount of money we spend on defense and NATO, European governments know the USA is there defense system so they put more towards social services |

France is actualy ranked number 1. |

Your absolutely right, if it wasn't for the US defense expenses, europeans would have to spend more on defense. I say we stop providing defense for the europeans, and if they ever get attacked we let them realize that the protection of their way of life isn't free, but it costs americans billions of dollars a year. We would see how liberal europe would be when they realized that comes at a price: human life and billions of dollars. It's funny they forget this being the most notorious wars were fought on that continent. And i say this being a democrat!!

your mixing quality of health care provided with the access to those services. The health care provided by american hospitals and such is certainly better. Doctors from all over the world come to the US for education. That should speak volumes about the quality of health care services. However, the overall health care system in the US is graded lower because there isn't access to it by the poor and the some of the middle class. |
