| I would have said England up until they let the Iranians walk all over HER Majesty's Navy, Sir Churchill must ahve turned in his grave, that was a disgrace, but yes Scotland Yard and Blair have been fighting Communism and now Islam terrorists for years, but none are like John Howard |

if i ever say europe i never mean to include england. in my opinion the brits are pretty different from the other europeans.
plus england has a pretty extensive military presence around the world (if for no reason other than its colonial period power)....but still the US spends 4.06% of its GDP on military, and the UK spends only 2.4% which comes to billions more.
oh, and to whomever said that france was more innovative technologically than the US, get a clue. Many of the modern technologies you enjoy have come from the 'evil' US military. US military grants and contracts have produced an enormous amount of new technology: GPS, cell phones, satellite technology and all that comes with it. There has never been another force more influential on technological advances than the US military. On top of that our pharmaceutical industry is second to none, our research universities are the best in the world, and our citizens can back up their claims with actual evidence. |

Your absolutely right, if it wasn't for the US defense expenses, europeans would have to spend more on defense. I say we stop providing defense for the europeans, and if they ever get attacked we let them realize that the protection of their way of life isn't free, but it costs americans billions of dollars a year. We would see how liberal europe would be when they realized that comes at a price: human life and billions of dollars. It's funny they forget this being the most notorious wars were fought on that continent. And i say this being a democrat!!

sure.........and the fact that the US is in major debt isnt a problem as well?? i mean im sure if China really wanted to, they could mess you over just as bad they could take over the world yet they havent. There's alot of problems that the US needs to resolve on their own territories yet they're spending so much on a useless war and giving the world lessons on what a democracy should be like when they don't even have a real one themselves, hypocritical if you ask me. What does that say about your trust in your own government and president?? at this point i find it rather laughable |

First, i don't agree with the premise for the war, and i don't think the US should be spreading anything (meaning democracy) to any other country. Personally i would rather have someone like sadam ruling his country with an iron fist thereby suppressing the extremists (or having the extremists fighting his) than having the crazy muslim population voting in extremists. democracy only works with an educated population. Furthermore, i would rather the US spending these billions on alternative fuels that can be produced in the US so we could just say, " the MIDDLE EAST, VENEZUELA, NIGERIA, and RUSSIA."
Second, debt to china isn't as big a deal as you may think. As reliant as we are on china purchasing treasuries, they are even more reliant upon us to purchase the they produce. They couldn't just unload the debt because a US recession means a chinese depresssion. Ever hear the phrase, "when the US sneezes the worlds catches a cold?"
anything you say about the US solving problems has nothing to do with the claims you were making before about healthcare and technology. so nice try diverting the conversation away from your misguided opinions and incorrect statements of fact.
Oh, and as a side note, there is really no functioning democracy in the world. The US doesn't claim to be a democracy, uninformed or overzealous politicians claim it to be. The US is actually a republican form of government. Democracy is almost unattainable with populations so great. That said, cities and towns tend to be more democratic. |

haha...i like how they kill each other in protest....maybe they should protest all the time until they wipe themselves off the map.
but on a serious note, what the hell is with muslims and getting offended at everything other countries do?? They need to stop being such pussies about everything. muslim sentiment!! I'm sure they can care less about what the americans and british feel about decisions they make. This is the definition of hypocraZy. |

if you were referring to me when did i ever say france was technologically superior? i don't deny the fact that the US is far ahead but what i was trying to say was that Europe is more advanced and modern in terms of way of life.... not in the advancements of satelites or military technology. If you ask any tourists what their first impression when coming to the US to visit is how primitive the way of life is here, the whole idea of "freedom" in this country is very shocking to people, and the harsh differences between the rich and the ghetto areas. |
