Nothing unique, just good/decent tracks with tiesto's name on them, with the exception of Adagio For Strings which is horrible. |
Are you sure!?.. For the time, they were definitley unique. Flight 643 and Traffic!? Suburban train!?....
Delerium - Silence pretty much sums up the height of the trance era in the uk! |

| Oakenfold - Southern Sun (Tiësto Remix) is a very good remix of the guy. This is a rare vocal trance song that I like. |

He's made some FANTASTIC tracks
Some of which a lot of people here like, and some of which a lot of people here don't like. Why do you need to know why he's so popular? Buy his tracks, albums, remixes, give them a listen, and judge for yourself if he's worth all the hype.
Playing at the Olympics to an international airport are definite signs of commercial success, and his production lived up to his hype until after 'Just Be', when I personally thought, he became more about everything except the music. Went to his head most probably.
I've never enjoyed his livesets after 2002, but his radioshow is pretty ok, but yet nothing special. From restaurants to shoes to probably women's underwear, it would have been better for his fans if he stuck to the music.
I don't have as poor an opinion of him as some people here do, but Elements of Life was a relative let-down.
Those photochop threads are simply ace though. |

| He is partially responsible for opening my eyes to the edm scene, but that's about it for me. As soon as I digged a bit deeper he disappeared from my radar. |

| Tiesto has never disappointed me live either. What scares me is how all of these big time DJs have all of these friends who are probably paid to find the best music out there. I mean, it's kind of hard to believe that Tiesto spends as much time as other DJs on finding material, perfecting the mix, and still have time to produce an album. It's up for debate though. |

^ This is the sort of mentality / maturity the majority of his fans have. I'm sure you will be able to draw your own conclusions from that. |

Here's two nice remixes from him. They're probably on some of his compilations you can find them.
Subtle By Design - Sirius (Tiësto Remix)
Lunatic Asylum - Cabal (Tiësto Remix) |

what are you talking about? everyone knows tiesto is tHe nUmBa 1 dJ iN dA wOrLd sO sToP hAtIn!
do i really have to make a note that this post was drenched in sarcasm, or will it be alright?
on a serious note, tiesto is...tiesto. he's not my favorite dj or a dj i hate. i have some of his tracks/remixes on my comp. i just get annoyed when people automatically say tiesto is their favorite dj and they don't know any other dj. i don't care if people like him, it's just when i ask you if you like trance or techno and then i go on to ask which dj's do you like, and you just state tiesto and no one else, it's just like...okaaaaaaaayy..... |

You want to hear when he was a great, proper trance DJ?
Go buy the Magik CDs, 1-7
Go buy In Search of Sunrise CDs, 1-3
Go get any of his sets from 98-02 (Dutch Dimension from 02.02.02 or Trance Energy 2000 are good to start with)
Come back with some constructive comments.
Enjoy! |
