So, what was your most favourite/memorable party/weekend/gig?

In all seriousness while reading some of the text from this post: click here, .. era this, era that, and out of love for the trance/EDM scene since I began in 02 at the "rave" parties at Key Arena & Amazura, to the friday nights at Exit, to the first night I experienced Corsten at Avalon in 11/03, to the numerous Avaland weekends at Avalon, to the rise of Pacha and Crobar .. I had to ask myself, what in hell was MY MOST favourite, memorable event?
In my opinion, the weekend of 02/27/04 and 02/28/04 has got to be my most treasured weekend. PvD @ Roxy on the 27th. Corsten @ Avalon on the 28th, back to back "doubleheader weekend" I called it. What more can one ask for? The thought of PvD, banging out those choons, those infamous build-ups in his set, to the dark pounding beats thrown in around 330-4 (from what I remember), those god damn lasers soaring high into the ceiling.. and Roxy's lights lit up while PvD doing an encore.. and I was standing on the raised platform, facing PvD.. and all you see is a SEA of people chanting and dancing, and having a great fukcing time..
To waiting online at Avalon the next night, and seeing Ferry walk in, and my ass screaming FERRRRY!!!, he looked and smiled, to finally getting in (at that time, they had a "strict" dress code), and Ferry just f#cking pounding it till 7 in the morning.. chanting to Punk and Rock Your Body, Rock.
THAT, was MY best weekend overall, personal opinion. What's yours?
** Edit, Corsten @ Avalon was not my first experience. Corsten @ Exit was my very first time I heard Corsten's set live. I didn't remember this till I was picking through my old flyer collection.
Remember we (ex Mixx Events Promoter for SF & Exit) brough AvB, Corsten, Marco V., The Thrillseekers, George Acosta to Exit for $20 per ticket?? Nowadays you want to see AvB and you have to fork up 35 to Made or it's affiliates! |

Mine was this warehouse party out in Queens. It was a huuuuuuuge liquor distribution company that a friend/promoter-friend of mine knew the owner. They were going out of business, and on their last month the dude convinced the owner to let him use it for a party. The place was the size of 3 Crobars, it was incredible. You had to walk through this tiny narrow corridor to get from room to room. I actually layed down the opening set in the first main floor, it was incredible. One of the rooms people were allowed to tag up with graffiti, and another room had a table set up with White Castle burgers, 1$ each one. It was heaven, and a freakn' circus. The people I saw dancing to house, trance, everything, looked like everyone from the Crobar guidos to people coming from a Marilyn Manson concert. There was nothing but fog machines and strobe lights all over, and the place was dirtier than the Tresor pics in the other thread, freaking amazing!!! Venom and Monk from Rabbit In The Moon were the headliners... That, my friends, was a party!

That's why I laugh when I get a called a "noob" lol. |

hahaha, now that's crazy Eco, hahah.
that almost sounds like Countdown 2K2 at Skate Arena like I mentioned earlier. Several areas within the arena, with different genres of EDM. Main room was acid trance with Spacegirl with a live PA on her piano at one point .. then Keoki (fukcing amazing..).. side room was gabber, (Rob Gee), another sideroom with trance/hardstyle by Pleasurehead.
best "rave" I went to, put it that way. not much focus on details for this post. |

oo really?? hahah think we might've crossed paths there and other major events since then? haha
speaking of Countdown 2K2, at that time.. I was a major user of glowsticks. so these group of girls who were sitting in the middle floor, asked me to give one of their friends a lightshow... (she was totally OUT of it, let me tell you).
so i did the show, and I decided to wrap up with a figure eight around our heads.. long story short, my hand gets caught somehow.. and I wind up BOPPING the poor girl on her forehead with my right hand, instead of going AROUND it. I'm laughing my ass off, and I'm saying sorry, and you shouldve seen the poor girl's eyes... it was SO rolled back into self.. and then she lets out this small laugh, and goes "thanks for the show, that rocked", as if she was unaware of the hit
LOL :haha: |
