Who exactly are you talking about? Not sure why you're so angry at the venue... the two months of ty bookings as "Studio" shouldn't stain the amazing bookings and parties that have gone on under that roof for the past what, like, 3 years?...

Marcello,,you are missing the entire point sir....The venue is amazing as I have said so many times in this thread..

BUT,,,when you have promoters that won't even touch the place with a ty stick it becomes prevalent..

Twilo was great but when it became Spirit it was crap...

Do you get my point?????

i think crobar was a great club
they booked great talent had good resident djs
i always had fun there
this idea of mansion commin in is ok
and if their gonna continue to book the same guys crobar was booking then i will support
i just hope these new renovations dont make it some bull vip club like the rest of nyc is turning into except for a few smaller rooms
you talked about whats killing the vibe in nyc
well one of them is bottle service and under age trust fund kids
i hope all works out and when does mansion open?

i don't wanna rain on your guys parade about made events but they aren't anything special

i have had friends who spun for them, opened up for main acts fro them and they DON'T pay them a dime for playing for them and are extremely cheap on giving the guys who are playing for them for free comps for there friends and/or drink tickets. they over charge on admission and they are the ones milking the money for you guys but for some reason you think there are gods

/end rant

i agree with you a lil
sometimes their prices are a lil too high
but sometimes they are good
but most of the time they are out of control

personally i could careless how much they pay the DJ, or if they comp a DJ. I'm not a DJ so that doesn't concern me. All I'm concerned about is bringing in the talent, and they seem to do a good job at that. If they don't have to pay alot for it and they can continue to bring in the talent, then they are better business people than the DJs. In the end it is a business and they provide what the crowds want. What's 30 - 40 dollars a few times a year?

my main gripe with Studio / Crobar was that for most big nights there was absolutely not seating whatsoever.

Plus the sound in the main room was all over the place depending on where you were standing. I had a few great nights at Crobar, but I most definitely won't miss its recent incarnation, nor will I care about its new one.

about Crobar residing in the best "club space" in the city, I definitely disagree. Not sure what it is now, but the space on 56th (Exit)takes the cake as the best straight up venue in the city...by far. Roxy, hell even Avalon have cooler layouts than Crobar.

at 30 or 40 dollars a person to bring in big talent isnt hard at all..in fact you are gonna make a killing doing that in a big 3500 capacity venue with a bar to boot. they make several thousands of dollars easily each event and to not pay the djs (what 100 or 200 bux each) that play in the other rooms or a few that open up for the main guy is just ridic and to be a ing jew about giving the djs enough comps and drink tickets they want is obsurd. its really kinda ing over the local djs that make new york, new york. being a local dj myself..just knowing the fact that every local nyc dj needs to do a billion freebee gigs just to get there name out which i know isnt good enough just kidna sucks. every other city i dj'd in..every venue will pay there djs..why is most nyc promoters soo ing cheap and not paying there djs!? so in my opinion made events should be ashamed of themselves..the locals need support too and there not doing there part of there bargain by not paying every body there part of the event when there making a killing themselves

/end rant 2.0

sorry if i offended any1..im just not happy about the nyc scene atm..it actually is at its worst for local dj support imho..the dues each local dj needs to pay is obsurd..more then i ever thought it would be when i started djing in 2000.
