Everyone has their opinions on Oakey. Theres alot this man has done for music. Not every Dj can say that he has had his things played in countless commercials, and been a part of music productions in theater and movie.
Sure there are countless Djs in public eye now, but for me, Ill always have a place in my heart for Paul. If you cant appericate Paul Oakenfold, I dont know what to say..
Some people around the club this weekend asked me how I thought this show will go, and if he has ever played here before....
You may remember, back when he was here last. It was a long time ago... That night, the whole club shutdown each room to play Paul Oakenfold in every room. I arrived here at 11 as a patron of the club, and didnt get into the club until 1:30. Everyone wanted in the mainroom to get a taste of what Paul was playing. People were gathered together, loving this man and his sound..
Lovefest 2006 people flocked the room again as Paul took the Stage and to me, suprisingly rocked. For me, it was a long time since I heard Paul, and good to hear him rock the decks.
Ready Steady Go and Flesh are some of my favorites from him. His rendition of Adagio for Strings, Just another day... 2 years prior before Tiestos version.
Ya, its true that im not a big fan of his new stuff. But as a Dj I totally respect Paul oakenfold. If you miss this show, you guys will miss out on one spectacular evening.

I have southern sun vinyl and was wondering whether oakie uses vinyl at all?
If he does ill for sure come and have him play my favorite song of all time. I heard him play the Gabriel and Dresden mix at Ultra 5 2003 and it was amazing...
at the EDC it looked like he had only CDJ's.
Can anyone tell me whether i should bring this vinyl or not?
And about the debate of marcus shulz or oakie will be better.
Shulz is cheesy and lame and plays what i call bubble gum trance.
Oakie on the other hand will play to his venue.

Oakenfold @ detroit with no crowd = Horrible trainwrecked a couple times
Oakenfold @ Cream Amnesia in Ibiza = Once again amazing
Oakenfold @ LA some random night = Not so good

Yes some of us are still %100 vinyl driven. Come see for yourself after Oakeys set.
& as i was told...Oakey is really really looking forward to returning to 1015. "Its been quite a while since i have been there. I often think about the Release era there." Oakey quote. I would suspect that he will be top notch tomorrow. I think he clearly understands whats been taking place on Sat nights. :D :thepirate

I'm thinking about it. Depending on how much I can pack. I'm moving out of my place on Wednesday. I'm leaving for Asia on Thursday and will be gone for 2 months. If I can get everything ready for the movers who's suppose to come Wednesday afternoon, then I can do an after party! |
