I take it you actually went back and read the thread then?

Good job. Now next time, try to do that before you make a complete ass of yourself. :)

And for the record - I'd love it if you or Jay could quote the post I made where I said anything at all bad about Montreal, or that it somehow didn't have a great scene.

I can't seem to find it.

Edit:

And Greg, the only person I'm coming off as a prick to in this thread is you - but if you actually meant to say that you were coming off as a pompous ass to the general populous of the community, then yeah - great job.

Look at iclone, she goes to london and pretty much everywhere else in the world on a weekly basis. She had one weekend here and ed off on London to come here.I think thats saying something.

quite frankly, i didn't think that kind of place existed. in my 220,000+ clubbing airmiles :p i've never crossed a venue where such a varied demographic -- week after week -- shelve their differences for the greater good. stereo rivals the world's best regular-hours clubs and easily champions every north american club i've entered. as ANF mentioned : afterhours clubs rarely survive, but stereo's had people tearing ass on the dancefloor for ~7 years!

And I believe she told me Sasha at Vanguard wasnt as good;)

sasha's and vibe's sets both were flawless, so i shall not compare.

vanguard's got a gorgeous funktion 1, lots of pretty toys/people/couches, expensive drinks, constant getting hit-on -- all good for the LA lifestyle, but it's not comparable to stereo. different clubs for different reasons.

stereo delivered in all respects and far-exceeded my expectations. shock-absorbing floors, dark simplicity graced by the world's most-ominous disco ball and minimal visuals [cheers to tribal night's insane layered vine/insect lighting effects ], and a far superior sound system where music flows through your veins at max volume but still allows you to clearly converse with others. the place is designed to keep people comfortable and dancing until they drop.

extreme afterhours requires a different breed of person entirely [albeit slightly masochistic ;)] and is therefore different in its own right...and i'm not just pumping sunshine up your asses, kids. all things considered, i'd wager on my ing off my monthly london trip in favor of montreal. cheers, guys.

i will, however, bitch about montreal's inability to book lawler/sander/sasha on fri/sat nights. :wtf: SRSLY.

All this talk of Montreal. It's a great city for underground edm. I think Danny Howells should do a Global Underground there :)

RJT I didn't mean to offend you in any way and for sure i am partisan to my opinions. I was pretty high when i posted in here yesterday and am honestly glad i did. I respect your talents as a DJ and your enthusiasm for the music, as these are passions we both share. This just happened to be a topic that was interesting to me ( a rairity in itself in the CoR) as well as a rare opportunity to actually step out of "character" and share with something i do know about. My club days have been slowing down, I am getting older and am almost a relic in terms of my age versus the rest of the "scene" these days. Soon all I will have left are the memories of all the wonderful times I have had and the growth and experiences i have had discovering all shapes and forms of under appreciated art and music. I was blessed on having an uncle who experienced the birth of house music first hand and even had a chance to play the Warehouse in its peak days. I was lucky to have the influence and presence of people like Frankie Knuckles when growing up. If I can pass on a piece of history to just one person i am happy, because you know as well as I do that anything not mainstream will thrive only by word of mouth and legendary tales of legendary nights. This was never really about trying to be better or trying to stage a pissing contest, but to talk about something I love and have loved more than anything i can think about for a very long time.

"Love your scene and it will grow, disrespect it and it will go"
