This is ed up. They are blocking a roadway in hopes of accomplishing what?? And to top it all of they are stating openly they have guns to "protect themselves". This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't stand stupid ing protesters it doesnt solve anything it just make most of the population hate your cause especially if you are disrupting other people's lives.

A little temporary blockade isn't much harm... They had the courtesy of announcing their plans much in advance, so everyone was aware this will happen. Like any other protest, they don't do much at all, I agree, but it does get attention and thought.

The leader of the blockade said that if they try to do anything that "they have firearms available". So why dont we call in the army to deal with these terrorists? Weve been when it comes to caledonia and they have learned that lesson well. Until we put an end to this kind of terrorism it's only going to get worse.

I say call in the army and end this now.

I agree, call in the army. This isn't a case where you can just say "O but it's a just cause." Because there is nothing that condones actions like this. The sad thing is that I bet they don't even know what they want to achieve from this. They want to draw the publics attention??? Well they are doing so, but they are making the public look at them in a negative light. Even if they do have a specific goal in mind that thye would like to accomplish, there are much more effective means of accomplishing it. We live in a civilized world where we maintain law and order and things can be changed by using the right channels. Honestly we are much past the stage of protesting, look at the marijuana march for instance. Every year they protest thinking they are going to make a difference and every year nothing happens and a lot of people laugh at some of the idiots.

I would have to agree with you on this. Its that firearms comment that really alters this. If I were to walk in the middle of Yonge street, put up a blockade in 'protest', and claim access to firearms, I wonder how long it'd last out there...

In all honesty, I find it even more absurd that they announced their plans. What is this, some sort of weak political gesture in demonstration that it is merely a peaceful protest? Its the Canada-day weekend. You want bad publicity? Go to capitol hill, do it there. To disrupt a major supply line, and disrupt a fairly large number of individuals using that venue of transport probably won't garner any sort of sympathy.

I had plans to go camping in Kingston this weekend. Whatever sympathy I may have had for their causes, and as selfish as it is of me, its gone now.

hahaa, im just pissed cause i leave for ottawa in a few hours. and I hate traffic jams on long weekends. Even more so when they are avoidable

them...they lost their land...get over it. happens. Move into the 21st century and get real jobs.

Hell, they already are exempt from taxes and get free education...better than the rest of us!

I see no real problem with peaceful protesting and there is a big difference between claiming access to firearms and actually being armed. If any of you have witnessed or read about previous aboriginal blockades you would know that most of the time it is the police who brutalize the Indians in their protest and not the other way around. So what if you are a bit late getting out of the city to go to your lakefront cottages, all of which are situated on land that was taken from these people. Use the time that you are sitting in traffic to thank your lucky stars that you have enough luxury in life to be able afford your car, cottage, gas (for your tank and not your nose) and rent, because even immigrants who come to Canada with nothing and end up working in McDonalds have a better shot at success in life than most of our native people.

The fact that its being allowed to happen is disgusting.

what a joke.
