DJ Tiesto live @ Gatecrasher NEC 13-04-2002 (pg. 3)

ya know...suprised no one mentioned this -- at all

It wasn't just the SET that was below par, but the quality of the RIP itself.

Seems like the rip was made out of the 20KB/Sec live stream rather than real radio/satellite quality!

True, I love that Dark style, it roxx, just as that Green Martian track, and what you say about the quality, I always hate a commercial every 30 mins, but this was crazy, wasn't it? I didn't count the breaks but there were many imo :(

Those of you who who think PvD is the "Best Dj In The World" go listen to his set!, this thread should be about him not tiesto!

WTF?
Why should the thread change to him?
what was wrong with his performance?

If -you- were there u can tell us, alot of us are purely judging Tiesto's ability from the Mp3 set not from seeing him at the NEC.

Here come the flames...

Theres something that i think ur missing dude, i cant continue comparing Dj's past performances to their performances -now- external factors including crowds, mood and vinyl avalibility should be taken into consideration not just their supposedly poor mixing skills on the night.

But again, what was wrong with PvD's set compared to that of Tiesto?

I think this was directed at me so I'll respond:

I just got up today and haven't finished the set, I'm still about 1/2 way through it. At this point I haven't really paid attention to the mixing as I've been working on other things while I listen to it. The Galaxy cut-ins and commercials do suck for sure.

As for what you said about the external influences, that is true. He could have been playing perfect tunes for the crowd, but those tunes just don't do it for me. When I said his "...DJ ability..." I meant in terms of the songs he played and types of tunes *I* want to hear.

Don't get me wrong, the set may have been perfect for the people there that night, but not for me.

Ahhhhhhhh i was there, and i heard it in very very loud and perfect quality :p

Downloading now :) Sounds like the quality is really ty, ahh well :)

Nice to hear others opinions on the set. Even the rather large contrast.

I find it hard to figure out how DJ Tiesto`s mixing was 50/50. Some real sweet smooth ones and then some really bad ones, surely he cant blame the equipment, and about the airwave mix, lol, I bet he was biteing his tounge as he twisted that nipple on the deck, lol. That was a real bad mix, he he.

the rip feels like it's the same quality as the broadcast via the web :(

ah well

and for Tiesto's mixing, as quoted from someone on the GC's boards
FADER!!!
some may like it, but seriously, there's no effort in fading in and out of tracks. :(

ah well, glad people that went there enjoyed the night and the ambience tho, cuz that's what it's all about! :D

no way, the quality sucked.

was it supposed to sound like that at the beginning???? (up until the middle of the space between remix)

I put in on CD last night and was listening to it in my car this morning.....and I thought the quality was fine...nothing compared to the quality in his "solo" set on 2-2-02, that sound quaily is way worse i think.

The longest recorded NEC Tiesto set is 68 minutes right because they started broadcasting someone else?

tu_face
i was @ NEC but i didnt see tiesto, with hindsight i should av done as PvD was pants and apparently tiesto played his wee socks off.. many ppl have said this who were there :)

as for the tracklist.. one thing i do know is he finished with umek - gatex... wether the set that has been ripped is his complete set is another matter....

i dunno
07. Mass Effect - Alphascan
08. Plastic Boy - Silverbath
Both produced by PUSH MIKE!

these songs just didnt do it for me...mike and push are the same person but different styles man. keep up the good comments though, i want to hear opinions from all sides

this songs are the best songs in this set
and i like the set, maybe not the begining, but after southern sun, it gets better.

and plastic boy is certainelly one of the most uplifting tunes atm.

I only don't like the fact that this set has been interrupted a lot by commercials and talking.
