I'm sure Menno is a cool guy, but it sounds like he started the whole thing by pushing the sound guy, who was just doing his job. The sound guy definitely overreacted though...most definitely...but he had every right to get pissed. Unfortunately the video doesn't show anything leading up to the pushing. |

I dunno about you. But if I was playing and some drunk guy came over and started taking fx units and then taking cases from a PLAYING cd player, I woulda shoved him back too.
When would you have pushed him? After he started unplugging the mixer? |

nope, I would calmly say something to the guy.
as a dj, it is a COMMON thing to have sound guys take out, or add equipment to a setup while you are playing.
its not like this sound technician was wasted and decided to play a drunk prank on Menno de Jong by messing with equipment. he had a job to do. The whole thing could have been avoided if they BOTH guys communicated with each other. If I was the sound guy, I would have kindly explained what I had to do...and if I was Menno, I would have talked to the guy to see what he was doing and if he could wait or something to take the equipment out.

| The way I see it, the guy was probably doing his job but had he had the least amount of courtesy to EXPLAIN Menno what he was going to do before he started unplugging (after sound crew had shut him down several times before) this never would have happened. Had I been in charge of security I would've kindly asked him to get off the stage and then beat the out of him backstage for being such an idiot. :stongue: |
