we were talking about getting a house/villa with everyone, but there were too many noncommittals at the time so those of us who didn't want to wait any longer decided to rsvp hotel rooms before they were booked solid. if it's under 400 euro per person for the 15 nights it might be worth it for us to just lose the deposit we already put down.
the other thing i wanted to check into was chartering a small yacht for a day. i did this in santorini and it was only 100 euro a person for the 6 of us all day, which included wine, cheese and fresh fruit. |

| You should've told me Rich. I'll be there for two weeks in August. Would've definitely got a Villa had i known. Staying at Es Vive this year. Also planning on doing a day trip or two to Formentera. |

| Yeah but there were like 50 Ibiza threads going around so i got confused. You'll be lucky enough to catch JOOF during your time which should be quite a party given that he vowed never to play there again. |

My wife and I went last year for 8 days and it was memorable, but it is pricey and the hotels really suck. They are worse than south Beach during WMC in that you don't get what you pay for, but worse. When we first got there, our hotel was cancelled simply because they could. The rates had gone up and I guess they gave the room to somebody who paid more. I offered to pay whatever, but they wouldn't give it to us. We eneded up at some crummy hotel the 1st three days, then when the Pacha hotel became available we moved there and that was nice, but it was well over $500/night. It wasn't $500+ nice, though. |
Wow - I have heard otherwise from many people. My experience was completely different. The people were much more friendly and approachable then here in the United States. Everyone I met was there to have a great time. Next time I would encourage you to do research before booking anything; including reading hotel reviews from past occupants, etc. Ibiza-spotlight.com is a great site for this! Personally, I feel that I got A LOT for what I paid for accommodation. :D |

remember the exchange rate is a big part of the high prices....
i was there last in 2003 when the Euro was if memory servers around 0.90 to the dollar. now its 1.35 to the dollar.
hence, the pacha hotel was $300 a night in 2003 and $500 a night now. basically prices for everything except the flight there are 50% higher compared to recent history due to the exchange rate :whip:
(and my flight was probably 20-30% higher)
in terms of hotels, there are only a couple of really nice ones and two just opened up this summer (one is a 5-star spa and the other a 13-room boutique hotel in Old Town). the Gran Sol in ibiza town opens later this year and the Nikki Beach hotel opens in 2008 so there will be more quality options. i think Euros on holiday are not used to South Beach/resort quality hotels...many cheaper hotels in ibiza don't even have AC!
i've stayed at Es Vive which was kinda of like a 'Standard' hotel - trendy but not that nice.
though it sounds like Halo's opinion was greatly influenced due to the BS he had to deal with at his first hotel. |

I went last year for seven days...and was broke by the 5th day lol. We stayed at the Jet Complex in PDB literally 2 blocks away from Space. Quite possibly the worst hotel I've stayed in. They made us pay for the ac...the room key had to be in the slot inside the room for the electricity to remain running. Once you took it out the power would go out...we always came back to a hot hotel room. ATL_Trancer- Gavin...stayed at the hotel right across from Space...I wish we had known about the place.....very nice and less then our hole. If you're a drinker..I would suggest buying liquor/beer at the markets and drinking it in your hotel/on the street. The bouncers didn't care if you had a drink while you were in line....we would have a 40 of San Miguel with us at all times lol....watch out for the fake cabbies..sometimes they charge more then an actual cab lol...and if the fake cabbie gets caught I believe everyone gets fined.
ps...
if you want a decent meal check out Loco Pizza in Ibiza City close to the Pacha store. |

| Halo - besides the high price what was your overall opinion of the Pacha hotel? that's where we are booked for this trip... |

@%$%#^# I seriously can’t imagine paying $500 for a night of rest. That’s how much I am paying for a room + food for 16 nights!! You’re in Ibiza!! The only thing I do at a hotel is eat and sleep… otherwise I am at the beach, a day party, exploring the island, or clubbing… the clubs are already expensive enough!!! :whip:
It is a nice looking hotel though, matches the glowing exterior of pacha...
Here is a pic I shot from club Pacha's patio:

Me too!! San Miguel FTW!! Some stores sold them for $1.50… pre-fading is cheap in Ibiza, but drink prices at bars/clubs are outrageous!! Just look at this tab from a bar…

The best pizza I ever had is in San An and it’s called Davids… it’s literally unbelievable. I will have to try Loco Pizza in Sept.
It is a shame to hear all these bad hotel experiences. I really encourage you to check out Hotel Gran Sol next time. You can BLAST the A/C when your out of the room, electricity doesn’t cut off, it’s clean and quite, great food… it’s definitely not a $500 a night Pacha hotel, but it sounds 100x better then these other hotels. |

Is David's on the West End? If I make it back next year..we're going to try and stay in Ibiza City or some of the places that have been recommended. Seriously I wish I could find San Miguel here in the US...I loved it.

I remember paying about 20 euros for a Vodka Redbull @ Privelege during Mega Night.
:whip:
and everyone should try:
