I read some very interesting stuff about Ibiza today in a magazine article. Apparently Es Vedra, a small island on the coast of Ibiza, is the third most magnetic point in the world (north pole and Bermuda triangle are the top 2). They said these magnetic forces might have something to do with the drive that people have to return year after year. ;) … Here is some more info:

http://ibiza.costasur.com/en/misterioso-ibiza.html

According to Nostradamus, Ibiza Island will be the only place that’s supports human life after nuclear disaster; “Ibiza will be Earth’s final refuge after Armageddon”. He predicted that Ibiza’s peculiar prevailing wind patterns will ensure that it is be the only remaining life supporting environment left on Earth…hmmm…interesting.

The early Phoenicians believed that Ibiza Island was a magical place that had been blessed by the gods. The rich red soil is non volcanic. No animal, plant, reptile or insect capable of harming man can survive here. Nowadays, many of the locals still wear pendants containing the “sacred soil” in order to protect them from harm.

The enigmatic Island of Es Vedra rises dramatically from the waters of Cala D’Hort. Curiously, no living thing can survive on the island. It’s completely devoid of life. In times past, Carmelite priests have claimed to have recorded “mystical revelations” here, and that they have had encounters with “unearthly being surrounded by white light” while meditating there.

Nowadays fishermen still avoid the area. A strong magnetic force is said to emanate from Es Vedra, resulting in gigantic circles of light emerging from the sea and various other unexplained phenomena…

One thing's for the sure, Ibiza has a strange magnetism for attracting creative talent from all over the globe. It has an extremely high concentration of international talent for such a tiny island. People find inspiration and fulfilment from the “Ibicenco way of life” - a simple natural alternative to modern stressful living. Everything is “Tranquillo”. A word used to mean finding inner peace and harmony with nature.

So I finally booked the flights. We'll get to Barcelona Sept 3 and then to Ibiza on the 6th and leave the 12th. I have been researching hotels for a while now, but still haven't been able to decide.
I thought I was going to stay at Pacha hotel for one night on the 6th since we are going to Pacha that night but there is a four night minimum and it's $1800/night Friday and Saturday so forget that. That's just too much.

Still looking for some options in Ibiza town preferably or walking distance at least. Whatever happened to El Divino apartments ?
I don't think it would have mattered that much if I had booked earlier because the rates are pretty much set depending on when you go. Any suggestions on hotels ? Too bad we're not going next year when there seems to be some nicer options.
