retail was always just fun.
I worked as a cashier at CompUSA for about a year. Mostly ty experience with tons of retard customers who dug their own beautiful whole for both the suffering and amusement of the employees.
Days usually consisted of opening at 10am, no customers for the first half hour, where I am throwing rubber bands in the air, reading magazines about computer hardware, or reading pamphlets about how Microsoft Vista will not be gay, etc.
After the first hour and about 1 customer, another cashier comes to accompany me, at which the rest of the shift is mostly:
1. punching each other in the balls.
2. throwing name tags across the store.
3. rolling pennies across the floor in hope of rolling it all the way to the far end of the store.
4. discussing how the next customer will be treated, including:
.A)meowing
.b)asking the customer to take a fake survey. Upon which we "record" their answer in our computer system by smashing the keyboard or doing a steve wonder piano roll.
.c)typing in fake serial numbers such as "Pink Television" or "696969696969"
5. my friend came up with acting smug (i think), where you close your eyes when you talk.
6. We also liked to make fun of chinese customers' accents.

but now i have a hard work ethic fixing office computers and setting up home/office networks. No ing rebates, no ing cheap pieces of asking for a discount cus I size my own rj45 cable with a hunting knife-rambo style, no piece of mothers needing me to take out a ing napkin and work out 15 multiplied by ing 3.
tis grand.

lol, well we're not nerds.:p

My office is directly diagonal to my bosses and when she comes in to my office to get some paper work I've done that I'm too lazy to walk over to her she'll come in while I'm on TA and say, "oh that ta site again, what do you do for a living again?" I <3 my boss. I always send her links to the lol threads.

Of course they give me stuff to do.

Technically, they don't pay me to sit here and do jack all day, even though that's what I do.

Anyway, I'll be leaving this thread for the next hour or two, I have to go and drive some documintz to a client's office. That's a quarter of my eight hour day gone. :D
Slylee
i do about 3-5 solid hours of real work in an 8 hour work day.

hmm... do you consider sitting through conference call and office meetings work? :o :(
Igaryok
Unfortunately yes, thank God it's not manual labor though.

if only they knew :disbelief

I can definately say that on some days, I spend more time surfin the web than doing any work. That's the beauty of cubicle office jobs. :D
