Last time I checked, 53% of Canadians are in support of Afghanistan.
Doubt there is much support for Iraq. (Heck, even I'm against that one)

Interesting topic...Right?

Well here are a few reasons in no specific order

1. 90% of Canada's population is within 250 miles of our borders.

2. 87.4% of exports to the United States!!!

3. your military is helping fight in our war

4. teams in our MLB, NBA, and NHL

5. You like our NFL better than your 8 teams of CFL

6. Our corporations strengthen, if not define your economy

7. 99% of movies come from the U.S.

8. McDonald's

9. Canadian Law is modeled after the U.S.

10. Were better

our justice system is pathetic, in the US its alot more fair in the sense, ppl go to jail longer and u have capital punishment, something canada needs.

I used to think like that too, but after reading this book gah. I forgot what's it called. Was made into movie with Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn I think.
Anyways, the whole process (with appeals and such which could take years) and the cost (which could run into millions) just to execute a criminal is actually less than keeping one in jail for life.

And death penalty obviously isn't a deterrent enough for criminals from actually committing crimes.

What Canadian justice system needs is reforms so that prisoners aren't pampered in jails so that life in prison isn't better than life outside prison. If jails are run in the lines of military prison in Edmonton, I think many criminals would stay away from prison because prison life would actually suck.

Also make sentences actually stick. If you get sentenced for 5 yrs, you stay for 5 yrs, unless you've been a very good boy in jail to deserve a reduced sentence.

Almost looks likes the last voting map, with a few exceptions like the big cities in Texas. How bizarre.

To the OP: I am essentially on your side here, and wasn't too surprised by the silly response that people keep quoting, but you've made some fairly significant assertions without backing them up, so you were bound to get the response you did.

Especially some of the points that are just plain wrong, like Canadian law being based on American law - saying that just caters to the stereotype of the dumb arrogant American. Don't feed the animals, man - there's enough animosity against the U.S. already, we don't need more fodder.
