There are a lot of us on here that love our pets and yet we don't have a remebrance thread for when they pass away. I thought I would start one.
Goodbye my little Simon....
Yesterday, in my arms, Simon passed away. A beautiful, intelligent little boy, he was famed for his fastidious plotting, addiction to tummy tickles, well-thought-out escape attempts and overall similarities to Stewie from Family Guy. I have had a tough few weeks and I think he held on until my life was a bit more steady, I can’t thank him enough for that.
We laid him to rest in Adam’s mom’s back garden, under the pear tree.
Goodbye my little soldier, mummy loves you x

He never wanted to escape his cage, just his playpen - and he would get VERY creative with ways to do it - watching him was always a pleasure and actually shocking as his thought processes were very logical.
He died of old age. |

ummm... i am not trying to be an ass or anything...
but if someone could please explain....
why do some people refer to their pets as if they are children? and refer to them selves as the "mommy" of they pet?? |

since Dee doesn't have a computer right now i thought i'd share...
"I am sad to announce the death of our dear kitty Morillo.
He died tragically last Monday July 16 after being struck by a car on greenwood avenue. A lovely lady witnessed the event and was able to tell one of our neighbors on St. Hubert.
It is very sad to see him go but he will forever be remembered as one of the best cats anyone could ask for. And the best brother that Markus could have had.
We will miss his cute cuddly ways, boogery nose that always needed tending to, his praying to the cat picture on our wall every night, him snuggling with his toys, and most of all his princely way of sitting whenever guests were around; paws always crossed.
He was just over a year old but will be forever loved.
We hope kitty heaven is just as fun as St. Hubert was, if not better.
Kisses and Shnugs
Danielle, Shannon and Carney
xoxo"

My family and I had been through 3 cats from 1993 to 2001. After the last and sweetest passed on, my mother swore she would not put herself through the loss of another one.
I thought she was being dramatic. I saved 'Gumpy' from a shelter and nurtured him for 6 days before she gave him away to a friend of her's (whom I have no contact with) while I was at work.:whip:
I began taking her comments seriously after that. I no longer live with her nor have I had a cat since then.
I have by chance become a dog lover though. Unfortunately the one I chose to raise suffers from Megaesophocus. He's doing well but its still troublesome.
I feel for anyone who has lost a pet.
It sounds cold, but I believe that such experiences are invaluable in preparing a person with how to cope for the inevitable loss of a loved one.

Raise an animal from its childhood (before 7 weeks) and tell me you don't feel like its parent.
Would ask the same question of adoptive parents?!?
I understand your point (different species) but we are all animals.
I'm sure you've heard of animals adopting/raising the offspring of another species.
Also, interestingly enough it goes both ways...It's not just the pet owner's behaviour personifying the animal, the pet behaves as if the owner IS its mommy or daddy. Studying behaviour/body language then mimicing it.
Its the best answer I have for you. Hope it answers your question. |
