I mean, the artists (producers) tunes/records he is using for the ISOS series (ie. these are not all Tiesto tunes, it's not an artist production release, it's a mix album, like PVD and Politics of Dancing) - but both artists sometimes take a record (produced by someone else), sample it, and rework it for use in the mix album release.

That's what I mean.

doubtful, i konw, but what would you think if this #6 was *really* good? would it change your views on tiesto? or would it be like,"oh well, someone else must have done it, not him" type of feeling?

IMO, i think ISOS should be like GU or something, where different artists do different volumes. could get a really better perspective on what the trance/chill genre is about - rather that just one DJ's point of view.

Ehrm, no. What you mean is what Sasha did on Involver. Tiesto and PvD just mix a bunch of tracks and slap their name on it.

That's the way it was done 5 years ago, but now everybody who is (anybody) in electronic music, and wants to release a mix album is required by law to do something original with it, use Ableton, a midi controller, a midi keyboard with those knobs, slider, and buttons, change the beat patterns, lengthen the tune, change the synth a bit - or else it would be boring and we would still be in beat-prison. You should (and will) be shot if you don't (because the technology is right here, and everybody is bored as of the "same old mix")...I see no skill in taking 2 records with a 2 channel mixer and basically playing tracks in a line (whist beatmatching and mixing) - what we used to cal 'The standard DJ mix' is now bland, boring, and non-skillful, it shows no originality in artistry, and it can all be done with a few MP3s and a software program now. The whole reason people are now flocking to the Ableton boat is because of the wealth of new options and directions the interface/program gives to a DJ to take his/her sound - in a new direction. It is literally blurring the lines between DJing/remixing/production, and it's allowing artists/DJs from all realms to experiment with the sound a bit, try new things, and make the sonic experience more enjoyable for the listening audience altogether.

C'mon now dude. are you serious? This is no place for you to be a teacher. I'm sure 90% of the people here no more crap that you and I put together.

I was joking about the law deal, but just making the point that alot of people like to see a fresh turn of originality in some musical practice that's gotten a bit stale over time....it's like how we had acoustic guitars and string instruments for hundreds (thousands) of years, and then the electric guitar comes along, and then all these different amps and pedals, etc for modifying the sound, so the sound is not so cookie-cutter "all the same" anymore. That's what I am taking about,
