u'll be fine with going out on ur own :)
First EDM event ever for me was MOBY/SASHA at Pier 54 at 14th street by the river in August 2002. Get this, im previously this VERY shy and antisocial chick who has had social anxiety since i was a child, yet somehow I decided to just brave it out on my own fior some odd reason...I actually planned on meeting ppl online for the first time ever, even confirmed meeting them...and they were *THERE* but i had ventured all the way to the front of the crowd and turns out they were in the BACK of the crowd. I didnt want to leave my spot so i end up calling them and was like, "Hey, i'll meet u up next time." then once it ended, i took a very slooow R train 1.5-2 hrs back to Bay Ridge and it was about 1:30AM when I finally got home. This was August 2002. Next event in October (PVD) I *still* miss out on meeting ppl. lol. November (PVD@ARC) i finally meet ppl.

^^You dont have to worry about being alone, technically, when you go out to a major event, because us TA's take up half the space. Most peopel just describe what they are wearing/post a pic and then meet up at the club.
fyi, if you go to a major event, like ferry, etc, there are a min. of 10 of us front and centre. ;) |

Another good idea, if you're really lukewarm on going out, or don't want to search through a jam-packed crowd, is to go to one of the events at smaller venues that tons of people are posting about. For example, i guarantee (i might even bet money on it) that if you go to Sean Tyas at Sullivan or Thrillseekers at Love, you'd be able to meet at least 10 TA's without working hard. |

haha at these two events, he will meet 50 ta's without working too hard :) |

Tom and I are going to be at Sean Tyas, so you'll see us there. I know I'm definitely going to Thrillseekers, not sure about Tom yet. He's in Germany right now, so communication is a tad more difficult than usual :tongue2

Yah, sure did make junior TA. :)
As far as Sean Tyas/Thrillseekers, I know my friends are not going to want to go. But as long as I think nobody is going to hate me, maybe I'll just go by myself ;)
Listen guys I swear I'm not crazy. Original post, the more I read it back, maybe did sound a little weird. It was just my writing style/mentality at the time. I swear, I don't really "interview" my friends, I can't even imagine why anybody would think that was serious.
Also about the Unabomber.. I've been using that avatar on various forums since probably the late 90's. Pre-9/11, it was actually funny to use. Post 9/11, it's been more of a political symbol (not a pro terrorist one obviously). This probably isn't a proper thread for a political discussion, but at any rate, since nobody seems to like it anymore or some people actually seem to be almost offended by it, I changed it to Fry - my second favorite cartoon character. ;)
Anyway it turns out there really are some pretty nice people here. My hope is that everybody forgets that I was an idiot for not only probably posting this in the wrong place, but for basically re-posting the same thing (stunning, shocking admission here) that I posted on craigslist!
Anyway, can we just talk about cats here? Please, I'm obviously not crazy.. do you know any crazy people that are cat lovers like me?? No such thing as a crazy cat lover. |
