At this one afterhours in Vancouver about 40% are Asians over 40 and most of them party wayyyyyyy harder than those in their 20's. I really don't understand... did they miss out when they were in college and making up for lost time or is it some mid-life crisis thing? And I noticed it's mainly Asians (there are rarely other races there that are over 30). << This is merely an observation and nothing against Asians (I know they are just there to have a good time like everyone else and they don't hurt anyone.) |

they probably realized in their mid-life-crisis that life is short and you need to live it out. Watching national geographic on a Saturday night can just as well be done when you are 60.
As for younger people, a lot of them are probably afraid to let loose, as they are amongst their peers, and have to maintain some level of 'cool'. Of course certain medicines can be taken for social anxiety, and you do see those people on the floor :toothless
But you bring up a good point, how come it is mainly older Asian people, and not older middle easterners or whites, or blacks etc.. |

i've been to hong kong several times and been to enough clubs there to know that this is not the norm. i haven't been to mainland china but from what i've heard this isn't the norm there either. i think these older east asian people fell into this because it was their escape and not having other options in western society because they couldn't properly integrate helped it along. as new east asians migrate here they make friends with some of the ppl in the scene and are introduced to the party lifestyle. although the 'sketchasains' get to me sometimes i'm always friendly toward them and they definitely return it. after all, we'll all there to have a good time. some more than others. :) |
