that's just being a prick... NEVER ask for a tip. This is coming from a bartender/server.
Just keep dave dresden away from your tips and you'll be fine. |

I always give a good tip, I mean, you give up a little bit of money, and it may actually make someones day better, you know? I'll part with the extra cash. Then again, I don't eat out often, so I'm able to do so.

the thing about valet is that sometimes it's not clear whether the the person makes money off tips or if the are paid an hourly wage. I would really like for the dude to just tell me they work off tips and I'd gladly tip more but I usually just do like the 1-2 dollars. |

mentioning tips at all is just rude.
there's a reason why it's common practice to conceal them. |

As pkc said, the whole "mandatory tipping" thing in the US is stupid.
Tips should be a genuine reward for people who've exceeded your expectations, not a certainty. |
