policemen are in charge of UPHOLDING THE FRICKIN LAW. do they ask for tips? screw that man, those people get paid to do what they do. tipping should be completely my decision. it's amazing how society has programmed it so that for certain jobs, its courteous to give extra money. if i tip, it should be seen as ing generous, or rewarding at the very least, not common or the norm.

Policeman get paid a salary with benefits. I thought we were referring to bartenders, waiteries/watiresses, valets people that jobs are based more on tips than a below minimum wage paycheck.

Ok maybe I misunderstood you. Yes tipping is up to you so???
Just don't skip the tip for no reason at all if your in a situation tipping might be the norm of how that person gets paid

still, that comes with the job. i'm sorry, and while i DO tip, i still believe if it just comes out my ass not to leave a cent one day, there should be no said about it.

the tipping system is a scam

good example. I do valet at a catering hall. Typical party is 5 hrs and all I get for standing and doing nothing is 20$. Thats 4$/hrs but then as I park the cars the tips are what raise that 4$/hr to maybe 10/hr or even up to 20/hr at the end of the party. Excpet they will be other valets along with me so they will get their share because we would split b/w amount of valets so if people start giving nothing we are all f'd

simple

good job = tip
bad job = discretionable because I once went to a denny's and was about to walk out I waited about 1 hr for breakfast after taking our order. Finally got the food and left 1$ BEAUSE the service sucked ass.

The whole whiny "Well I only get 20 dollars for 4 hours of work!" argument bothers the capitalist in me.

Like it's supposed to be OUR duty to help you out because you can't go out and get a better paying job and earn more money. off with that.

and the fact that you are ed is a flaw in the tipping system, or the client's problem?

the fact of the matter is, the tipping system overpays workers in some respects, for work that is nowhere near worth that much, and in the cases of slow nights or unpopular businesses, s them over. well, not everything is pink and peachy, and if it benefits on one side, you can sure as hell expect it to you over on the other.

i guess, if you don't like it, you shouldn't be in a job that's based on tips.
