It sounds like your problem is not with the format itself, but rather the albums you've bought. There's no inherent reason why an album should have filler, and I have plenty that don't have any filler at all. Genuinely accomplished albums (ones that aren't just a few singles written earlier and a bunch of fluff made to fill the gaps) are just about the best thing in music, aside from a really good live performance. |
I'm still not convinced that most artists themselves view albums from some form of "holistic quality" viewpoint. I can usually pinpoint the tracks that the artist put the most effort in, but whatever, I won't argue it.
It's just much easier to do everything right in a 5 minute track, than in a full-length album. I could go into how club culture works, but I won't since it's irrelevant to the home-listening aspect. |

No. Most electronic producers don't have the first clue about making a good LP.

If you're going to make an LP, you're leaving club culture. The trouble is that most producers are part of club culture, and then they sit down and try and make something that isn't part of that culture.
