| What are your favorite top 5 albums? |

| Oh, that's a tough one. I don't think I could narrow it to ten albums, let alone five, and that's just electronic stuff. |

For me it's the opposite.
The music I like is single 12" vinyl-based, and the albums that exist all seem to have a lot of filler on them (as albums in general do). I don't like the mindset that a 60 minute CD has to be filled with music, no matter what. Seems like a really ed up viewpoint to work from. |

This is really though, but will try.
No spesific order
Tiësto - Nyana (The second cd)
James Holden - Balance 005
Ferry Corsten - Creamfields
Johan Gielen - ITWT 4
Conjure One - Conjure One / Ectraordinary Days (I can't decide :S)
I could put up a few more, but you asked for 5. |

I think LPs are the premier musical format because they bring into play context, development and narrative. Music in isolation, reduced to tracks played individually, seems very limited artistically to me. Classical composers didn't write music in isolated ten minute chunks. They wrote suites and symphonies. The album is essentially the same idea.
It sounds like your problem is not with the format itself, but rather the albums you've bought. There's no inherent reason why an album should have filler, and I have plenty that don't have any filler at all. Genuinely accomplished albums (ones that aren't just a few singles written earlier and a bunch of fluff made to fill the gaps) are just about the best thing in music, aside from a really good live performance. |

Harold Budd & Brian Eno - The Pearl
Vidna Obmana - The River Of Appearance
Vangelis - Blade Runner
Pink Floyd - Pulse
Genesis - A Trick Of The Tail
Maybe these five, but tomorrow i could come up with five other. It's really hard to narrow it down. |

hahaha, I hadn't read yours and I was posting, then I went back to read the thread = MY first two were gonna be: "Paul van Dyk - Out There and Back" and "Sasha - GU: 013" and then I was going to add Prodigy - Experience, James Holden Balance 005, and The original MOS Clubber's Guide to Trance which is a classic.
