DJs who don't love music... (pg. 5)

Although I have encountered DJs (locals but with country wide success) that when asked about a specific tune in their set have answered. "I don't know what track that was. My friend gave me a bunch of mp3s recently"
The way that particular person said it made me feel they didn't really care who made it or what it was called. A friend had told them it was a corker so they played it but not really feeling it themselves. As a DJ I thought that was a bit strange
I've never actaully caught someone spinning bad quality mp3s but I'm pretty sure most peeps on the dancefloor wouldn't notice when a 128kbps MP3 is being shoved down their ears on a club sound system. A lot of people on the internet are very vocal about quality and I do not doubt their knowledge or sincerity. However, on the dancefloor you'd be suprise how little people care. You can get away with a lot of stuff if you tried |

That's exactly why I started this thread, I'm hearing those kind of comments from popular DJs all the time.

Correct.
The sound of the crowd, the (generally) poor clarity of the system, and the poor acoustics in a place will drown out the music to a point where hearing the difference between a low quality mp3 and a wav is almost impossible. |

Well I thought the other point was is they couldnt be bothered buying it anywhere else but a mixed album?
I generally hate mixed albums. Give me a regular album or a set please. |

No, they download poor quality set rips from p2p, not from mixed albums, and they certainly don't buy.
Set rips as in recordings from festivals like Global Gathering etc. |

maybe they are not showing interest because u clearly know alot more than them, and they dont want to look like a fool, since they are the dj. if i was them id act uninterested.
but yea i do tend to get that feeling that their r n00bs out n bout spec in the less clubby basic clubs in sydney.. i saw some house dj in the pub playing house and he was pretending to turn n00bs on the deck to look like he was djing.. LOL.. thou i was pretty sure i cant be 100% since i never have dj'ed other than just listening and reading and using a very basic one at work.
dj'ing is now fashionable.. and so are particular style of genres, this s me the most..
listen to a song called 'All About Housemusic (Full Vox Mix)' by 'Noir'

the best was when i was browsing traxsource once and this 'dj' i know asked me if they were my remixes, then i told him i was shopping and he asked me "you buy your music?" then asked if I used iTunes
