as a girl... and someone with high anx who suffers from extreme anxiety attacks, these are somethings that help me.

-long walks at night (only if its safe)
-hot tea with honey and lemon
-a steaming shower
-a long nap
-having a friend who will listen to you vent

Try some power yoga. Its the best thing I've taken up recently

15 mins will do the trick; You meditate, breathe, stretch, build strength etc, all the while training youself to remain calm in times of stress.

When ever i feel anxious and cant find a place for my self, I go for a good work out at the gym. If you are not a member of a gym, you can simply go outside for a run. Do anything that will get your heart rate up and some endorphins into your system.

Healthy body = Healthy mind ;)

If you run, doing a single sprint, just 30 seconds of intense exercise, it can clear your head for around 75minutes afterward.

I typed this article out of a Mens Health mag I have.

"According to a British study, after 22 men performed a single all-out cycling sprint (can be the same for running), researchers found that each participant experienced less tension, anger, and confusion for about 75 minutes afterward. Short periods of exhaustive exercise fatigue the mind, resetting it to its baseline, says study author Dominic Micklewright, Ph.D.,of the University of Essex."

So get out there and run your ass off for a bit! It works awesome. Even if you do a workout at the gym, you feel so much better afterward. Try it!

Exercise, either a hard workout with pumping music or a long quiet walk. Talk the ear off a friend for as long as you need. Have tea and just lie down in a quiet place and BREATHE...

it's funny how most people recommended some sort of exercise
(which is what I was going to suggest)
but since that is so popular I will change up the advice and recommend you open up that "My Received Files" folder and look at some funny pictures people sent you

I know for myself I open that up every few months and always laugh at what I have received or what pictures I am in!

Yuppers. Running and other intense physical exersises raise dopamine levels, and also release endorphins (endogenous opioid biochemical feel damn good TM. compounds). And last but not least anandamide, a THC like cannabinoid neurotransmitter. Probably a bunch more crap, but I am merely a man armed with wikipedia.

Anyhoo, this whole free drugs shebang is most likelly some ancient self preservation mechanism at work, so that when you spend entire day chasing around a mammoth with a wooden club, you feel rewarded for doing it.

The reason a lot of people do not go ahead and start running like crazy however, is that initially if you are not fit enough for exersising the effort is hell of a lot greater than the reward. Plus it is easier to get that dopamine by stuffing your face with an entire cheescake. Errr offtopic? My bad.

Back on topic: good pair of running shoes, an mp3 player, some FINE edm, and you are good to roll.
