I've decided that I can't ing stand my room-mate, so I went to look at a one bedroom apartment today, and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT!!
It's everything I was expecting, and more. It's small and cozy, in an old old house turned apartments. New tile on the main floor, new carpet in the bedroom, fresh paint, and close to work and school.
I love small spaces...I really hope I get this apartment.
Oh, and it's gonna my room mate over bad, stupid , lol. |

LOL i kinda wanted to do that to one of my roomies. but now he has a relatively good job which pays the best hes ever had. so i am ok with him being an irresponsible douche for now. |

Well, the issue with my roomie is that he's not willing to split the rent until I find someone to rent out the other room. I told him he'd only have to pay 300 bucks (half the rent is 425) a month WHEN WE HAD ANOTHER ROOM-MATE, which we don't have yet.
So yeah, I was gonna give him the ultimatum that he could either split the rent until I find someone, or leave. Because I can cover the full rent until I find someone else if need be. The only loser in the situation would be him, because he'll never find a better deal than what he gets here, even while he splits the rent.
But then I decided that I don't want to live with him at all anymore, even if he agrees to pay the 425. And I don't want to put up with anyone else's either...
So yeah, him.
The funny thing is, if I get this place, I'll be moving out in 2 weeks. So he's gonna be scrambling to find another place to live, and if he can't find one, he's gonna be stuck here paying FULL rent (850 + hydro). LOL, motherer just couldn't hold out till I found another room mate. Now he's gonna get screwed.
Annnnnnd if I don't get this other apartment, I'm gonna ask my current room mate to leave anyways. |

Personally, I think it would be better if you stayed and saved your money so you could buy an apartment (or something) in a few years.

On a side note... Are my parents insane? I'm kind of worried. They have some kind of weird utopian idea of this house, it's scary. |
As the Russian saying goes, everyone's got cockroaches in their heads. |

| I need my own place but I need to edumacate myself first. then i need to find a place that allows pets, which most bastards don't now. I clean up after my dog, it's not my fault she malts fur or bleeds everywhere twice a year. By that standard i can't have a gf who bleeds everywhere once a month in  |

I'm in the opposite situation. I'm the one paying the bills for my mom because she lost her job. Rent, loans payments, and my car I have to sacrifice and pay out of my own hard-earned savings and wages. My savings are basically gone to rent. I really do wish I moved out because I'm being dragged into a hole by my parent's mistakes.
But on the bright side, as soon I take tax preparation courses, I'll be a tax preparer for the 2007 tax season, then I'll move out and continue my finance degree. |

+
$100 a fornight Rent Assistance

= $450 (225 per week) :)
I'm probably gonna get a 3 bedroom place with friends. $250 a week in an area like Plympton (ok, a bit of a step down from where I live atm lol... but it's ok) is $80 a week each.
- Internet = $5
- Food (I'm a horse) = $90
- Water & = $10?
- Mobile = $10?
You'd still have $30 left over just from the Centre Link stuff. |
Such a shame America spends its money in Iraq and ty dead-end socialist programs...
I'm stuck paying $8000 a year tuition with no assistance at all. |

you have to qualify for all of that. you cant just move out and receive it. you need to be classified as independent. |

| Whatever you do, don't room with random roommates if you can avoid it. It's a crap shoot and you could end up stuck with twats. |

I'm tired of my parents idiotic attitudes towards anything and everything, which is normal at this age I suppose. We just moved house and they wont even let me put my own desk in my bedroom ("carpet damage" - funny, we have industrial carpet). I'm stuck in a small study (with carpet lol) with my sister and I can't use any of my DJing/Producing gear (hard earned $thousands). Pretty pissed off really. :p

Stay at home. I'm in the same position as you. 20 years old but next year is my last year of uni.
I'm ing so sick of living at home as my parents are starting to me but there are so many benefits too.
I'm just going to grit my teeth and survive another year and a half and I doubt I'll regret it. If I moved out now it would be horrible. I'm so slammed with uni that if I had to work more to pay for rent I'd be royally ed.
Stay at home, time passes quick. You'll be out in no time. During that time, take comfort in the fact that you're not alone and plenty of us are in the same exact ed up situation :whip: |
