The more EDM clubs we can get the better it'll be! |
maybe more EDM clubs but not more of what we already have. More clubs doesn't mean it will be any better....hopefully the competition will force clubs to bring in more and better international DJs. With regards to local talent....it seems like its the same core group of DJs that are at every club....I am sure there are some exceptions but Toronto has always stuck with a small group of local DJs to tour the city. |

Yep.
Also I heard about Simian Mobile Disco on freaking much music, seems like badass tunage. |

LOL
I love how, in some circles, he's considered one of Toronto's "hottest promoters".
But I guess when you have sway with a posse of twinks, you become a valuable commodity :P
Steve will bring a LOT of experience to the table...and seeing A.D.D. involved makes me happy too.
Circa certainly has my interest more than it did before...but I'll remain my usual pessimistic, jaded self until I read some positive reviews :D |

lol at some of the commnets :stongue:
All Iam saying is that they should do other types of music and not just damn house thats all.Techno,Trance,D&B?
and since when do people think edm = house? :conf:
Anyways I wish them the best but to be honest that location will never workout for that they are aiming for.
People are forgetting what happend when Lucid was around, they had the same idea with lots of big promoters and they lasted a few months before it turned into a typical Richmond street club.Same with Republik btw too,I had lots of hopes for that place but as time went by everything changed.:( |

The opening weekend is set to kickoff on Thursday, October 4th, with an exclusive, invite-only, red carpet affair for friends and supporters of Peter Gatien. |
So when is it open to the public? |

what youre saying might be true...even bringing good regular intl. talent probably wont last for too long on a consistent basis...what works like someone said previously is the same small core group of locals playing a mainly commercial sound in a small venue..that seems to be good enough for this city..there is a reason toronto has never been a trend setting city...I can still remember all the hype over Lucid |

thats basically been my point all along. What is "really" going to make this place different than Lucid? And don't tell me crap like a sensabar  big deal. Since the owner has a lot of club experience, perhaps hes done his homework, which lucid overlooked. who knows. but only time will tell (i'd say a year) before you can determine the success of this club. |

Toronto seems to be scared of wanting to try new ideas I think.I mean in a Business point of view doing new things is a risky thing to do at least in this city.Since people arent that open minded compare to other cities.
Clubs know that too and they know by following others thats how they make their money and right now playing bleepblop house brings more money in the bank. |
