So how is da house music on those KRK V8 and is the bass good enough that you don't need a subwoofer? I was thinking a pair of KRK RP6 or RP8 plus their RP10" sub. Did you get a chance to compare the lower-priced RP8 with the V8?
I need to get something better than my subless home stereo speakers for DJ practice and house parties. Looking for something that is good for messin around plus small parties, so the music has that "fun" sound without having to be really loud.
imo real PA speakers need to be run excessively loud (in a house or small club) to sound best so that's why I'm thinking monitors - quality sound at safer, comfy volumes. |

| Just a quick question regarding active studio monitors. Is there a volume adjustment anywhere on the speakers, seeing how there's no seperate amp where you can control the volume from the source of speakers. Would that mean active monitors need to only rely on the volume setting brought by the mixer or whatever audio source it's connected to (i.e winamp on the PC)? |

Yes, there is a separate volume on the back of each speaker.
As well as a hi frequency adjust knob on most as well.... |

does anyone own the Behringer Truth 2031A monitors??
I've read reviews of people complaining about RF interferences problems with these (apparently, this problem doesn't stop even after using balanced connections).
my choice has boiled down to between these and the KRK RP-5s which fall within my budget..
I'm not into production (yet)..and I just want some decent monitors to train my ears better and improve my mixing (my pc speakers have burn out now)
I'll just be using them in a 13'x11' room.
any thoughts/suggestions?? |

I'm also looking for a sort of multi-purpose set of speakers. All I use now are some Logitech Z2300s, but I'm looking for something that will be better for small house parties but non-PA speakers. Something with enough bass for a crwoded room. Active of course.
Any suggestions? I'm pretty clueless in this area. |

Behringer Truth's?? Seems to be the best. I would say KRK RP5s which I have, but those are not that loud and don't have that good of bass...not bad but Behringer's sounds better without an amp. |

I'd get at LEAST 8 inch woofer if you wanna use em for small house parties... If you're gonna take the speakers to house parties I wouldn't recommend you getting reference monitors, just cause of the risk of damaging them and what not. Try finding some stores that let you demo the speakers, theres a bunch up here. My RP6's are amazing in the trebs/mids, but the 6 inch woofer won't give the massive bass you're looking for... |

| Hmm...right now I'm leaning toward the Truths. In the reviews, people say they're good for house parties... |

Those work, but I would say the best combo for house parties (although I don't have them, I've never found people into the same music as I'm into other than on here) is small monitors/good headphones for you and for the crowd...some loud speakers, nothing too fancy. I had some (but sold) some Sony S12E speakers that were something like $199 a piece. Produced pretty good sound I would say. |
