Lol ,,,Whaaaaaaaat ..!!? was that a JOKE ???

Yeah, I never understood why some opening DJS would try to steal the thunder of the headliner. You make EVERYBODY look bad by doing so, including yourself!

But diva, errrr, Lawler didn't want Manzone and Strong to rip it up, so that's that...

Glad to hear Lawler back on point...I am off of him, but I can come back around if I keep hearing good reviews!

Again, opening is one of the hardest jobs of the night.

Especially for Steve Lawler.. because he plays really slow & heavy and he needs the warm up djs to play even slower lol.. it's definately tougher to find decent warm up tracks in that 120-125 BPM range, that have groove and will keep the crowd up.. and plus Toronto is generally used to much more ubpeat house..
i thought joe & fab did really well.

Lawler played great, took him a bit to get into it, but he's always like that lol.. i'm glad it emptied out the club a lil bit anyways ;) it was hot in there.

good night overall :)

You dont have to be boring when you play before him...

He doesn't ask for it ...

Give yourself 30 minutes to slow down the tempo and he's gonna be happy

He's THE hardest dj i've opened for

His Montreal sets are legendary

Next time i'll try to listen to him in TO too

I hear M&S are the in toronto

But it's funny how it's always the same 6 or 7 djs that are playing all venues + big parties + opening sets

Why is that so ?

I'm not saying its a bad thing

Its just that i always see the same names playing all the opening gigs

And some play very different styles

Like Mark Oliver plays all the openings at guv... even if its a trance dj / prog / housier / techier / etc

I'm not used to that in mtl

Theres a bigger rotation on djs

thats all
UneeK
i personally like it when the opener is pumping the big beats and then the headliner has to slow the pace down completely to make sure everyone notices there's a switch....i think it adds excitement for the headliner's fans and gets everyone in the club to go "oh , i think lawler is on"

I thought Lawler played an insane set in Montreal, another classic Tribe night.

dj king louissss,
ur the man.

Things are different in Toronto than they are in Montreal. I notice in Montreal a lot of the times, the promoters and owners have no problems all coming together, or sharing talent, to create huge mega parties or great special events.

In Toronto, it's different, but still good. The reasons you see the same Toronto openers is because a) they are amazing DJs, b) it's their residencies, and c) all those clubs are owned by the same group...

I thought the tunes were excellent all night!! Was much more to room to rock it than the new years party...And the last hour and a half of Lawlers set was retarded..pure mind lawler madness!!

Hey Chinamon... how come your head is always down when you take a self portrait? You wanted by the cops or something? LOL!
