I always pronounced it poo-teen and that's how I was taught when I first moved here. But since you live in Ontario, and Ontario for some reason is more Canadian than the rest of Canada (I've never heard anyone from another part of Canada say 'aboat'), you may be right.
Poutine is okay I guess, though I still would rather have mashed potatoes with cheese and gravy on top. |
